A Charlotte man has been charged with shooting into a Denver business.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Deputies said Emery Demario McQuiller, 39, fired into Chemisty Lab Paint and Fab shop on Highway 16 Business on Thursday at around 5:40 p.m.
Deputies said they arrived on the scene and learned that McQuiller had allegedly
opened fire with a 9-millimeter handgun at employees through an open door. Deputies said he then entered the business and fired another shot.
The owner, Paul Roach, retrieved a shotgun from his office and shot at McQuiller, causing him to flee the business, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies searched the area and found the suspect hiding in the restroom of a nearby restaurant where he was taken into custody.
Deputies said McQuiller was slightly injured during the exchange of gunfire and received several small pellets in the face and neck. He was treated for his injuries at Atrium Health – Lincoln.
McQuiller is charged with six counts of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and one count each of shooting into occupied property and possession of a firearm by a felon. He
