Will Blackburn pitched a complete-game shutout and Lincolnton pulled off a 3-0 upset over the county-rival Knights Friday evening at Jonathan Brookins Field in Lincolnton.

Blackburn, a sophomore, scattered four North Lincoln (9-3) hits while striking out 10 and walking three.

Gavin Queen and Gavin Jiminez connected on back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the second inning to give the Wolves an early 1-0 lead.

Lincolnton (4-8) would add two more runs in the home half of the fourth when Blackburn and Easton Dellinger hit consecutive doubles, followed by an RBI single from Queen to make it a 3-0 game.

That would be all the support that Blackburn would need, as he held North Lincoln’s offense at bay all night.

Queen and Jiminez each went 2 for 3 at the plate with an RBI, and Dellinger also drove in a Lincolnton run. The Wolves outhit the Knights 8 to 4.

Lincolnton will play at Maiden on Tuesday, while the Knights will host Bandys.

Isaac Armstrong belted a 2-run homer and the Mustangs held off a late-inning rally by the Rebels to sweep the season series with West Lincoln and improve to 11-1 on the season.

Jordan Fisher and Trey Spees also drove in runs for East Lincoln.

The Rebels tied the game in the top of the sixth inning when Brett Mason’s 2-run single scored Samuel Duncan and Trace Gilmore to make it a 3-2 game, and Adam Fortenberry’s RBI groundout scored Mason to even the score.

However, the Mustangs retook the lead in the bottom half of the inning when Fisher singled and later came around to score on a base hit by Spees.

Spees went 2 for 3 at the plate for East Lincoln, while Fortenberry had 2 hits in three trips for West Lincoln.

Logan Palmer got the win on the mound for the Mustangs, who clinched the conference’s number one spot for the playoffs, coupled with North Lincoln’s loss at Lincolnton.
