East Lincoln Football Field

David Clark Field, along with the football practice field at East Lincoln High School, are quiet this week as high schools across North Carolina observe the NCHSAA"s "dead period" prior to the July 4th holiday.

Lincoln County athletes are taking a break this week from their daily workouts.

The North Carolina High School Athletic Associations "Dead Period" runs through Sunday, July 5th.

Stadiums and practice fields are all quiet this week before the student-athletes get back to work beginning Monday.

Lincoln County is allowing offseason workouts as long as the schools operate under the guidelines that were sent out by the NCHSAA.

Some of the other area counties are expected to begin summer workouts as well on Monday, July 6, the end of the "dead period."

The high school football season is tentatively set to begin on Friday, August 21, although there is some speculation that the season could be moved to the spring of 2021 due to the Coronavirus.
