The North Carolina Softball Coaches Association announced their All-State teams for the 2019 season on Wednesday, and Lincoln County was well represented.
A total of 10 players from the county were named to the 1A and 2A teams, including five from North Lincoln, three from Lincoln Charter and two from East Lincoln high schools.
South Fork 2A Defensive Player of the Year McKayla Watts led the way for the Lady Knights on the 2A All-State squad. Watts, a junior pitcher on the North Lincoln team that finished 20-3, was joined by teammates, senior Mia Duval (shortstop), senior Haley Patrick (leftfield), sophomore Morgan McCaslin (catcher) and freshman Sylvia Burroughs (utility).
Katelynn Crowe, a sophomore second baseman for the East Lincoln Lady Mustangs was also named to the 2A squad, along with teammate Katie Hogue, a sophomore catcher. The duo helped East Lincoln to a 15-6 record in 2019.
Lincoln Charter, who finished the year 20-4, had three members on the 1A All-State team, including senior third baseman Mia Stokes. Joining Stokes on the 1A squad were fellow seniors Kaitlyn Wiltshire (centerfield) and Hailey McGee (catcher).
Other area players to earn All-State honors were Cherryville junior catcher Gracie Hester (1A), and Maiden sophomore pitcher Morgan Bohemier and senior first baseman Addyson Ikard (2A).
