Mustangs fell at Newton-Conover in 2019 regular-season finale

The 2019 regular season did not end as the East Lincoln Mustangs had planned, as the visitors from Denver fell to the Red Devils 42-21 on Senior Night at Gurley Stadium in Newton.  Newton-Conover’s combination of Justice Craig and Zane Redmond hooked up for four touchdown passes on the night, supplying the Red Devils with 28 of their 42 points. East Lincoln quarterback Justin Barnett, above, connected on 15 of his 24 pass attempts for 135 yards and a pair of scores for the Mustangs.  The loss sent East Lincoln into the playoffs as the fourth seed from the South Fork 2A Conference, and a first-round game at Burns the following week.
