After Friday night’s humbling loss at Lake Norman Charter, the East Lincoln boys responded in a big way Tuesday evening with a 59-38 win over the rival Wolves in Denver.

The Mustangs led by nine at the half, then outscored the Wolves 16-11 in the third period before pulling away in the fourth quarter.

Jeremiah Jones scored a game-high 17 points to lead East Lincoln, while junior Drew Bean added 15.

Amontre Finger and Connor Williams scored nine points each to lead Lincolnton.

With the win, the Mustangs improved to 7-2 on the season, and are now in sole possession of second place in the South Fork 2A Conference. East Lincoln will host first-place North Lincoln on Friday.

The victory on Tuesday was the Mustangs seventh straight over the Wolves, including a one-point win at Lincolnton back on January 8.

The Wolves fell to 4-3 on the season, and will play at Bandys on Friday.

Senior Cole Seagle scored a game-high 39 points to lead the North Lincoln Knights over Lake Norman Charter. Jack Carter added 23 points for North Lincoln, who avenged their only loss of the season.

The Eagles scored 28 first-quarter points on their way to a 20-point win over the Gryphons to improve to 9-0 on the season. Sam Cogan scored 31 points to lead Lincoln Charter. Avery Bordon added 12 points for the Eagles, and Palmer Crichton had 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Lincoln Charter will be at Highland Tech tonight.

The Wolves rebounded from Tuesday night’s loss at East Lincoln with an important home win over Lake Norman Charter. Connor Williams scored 17 points to lead Lincolnton (5-3), while Reed King added 12 and Amontre Finger 11. Cal Reed led the Knights with 17 points, and Oliver O’Brien added 11. Lake Norman Charter will host Maiden tonight, while the Wolves travel to Bandys.
