The East Lincoln girls picked up a big South Fork 2A Conference win on Friday with their 64-58 victory over second-place Lake Norman Charter.

The win, the Lady Mustangs fifth of the season, keeps the team in contention for one of the two automatic playoff spots. East Lincoln (5-3) is now just one game behind the Lady Knights for second place in the league.

Madison Self had 16 points, 14 rebounds and an assist to help lead the Lady Mustangs on Friday. Taliyah Thomas came up big with 18 points, 3 boards, 1 assist and a steal. Ginny Overbay added 10 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist.

East Lincoln will host Lincolnton when conference play resumes on Tuesday. Lake Norman Charter (6-2) will play at North Lincoln.

The Knights regained sole possession of first place in the South Fork 2A Conference with their road win on Friday. Cole Seagle poured

in 27 points to lead North Lincoln, while Jack Carter added 17 points and Daniel Carter 14 points and

eight rebounds for the Knights, who rebounded from their loss on Tuesday. North Lincoln will host Lake Norman Charter on Tuesday, while the Rebels will play at Maiden.

Newton-Conover 55, Lincolnton 47

Junior Zane Redmond scored a game-high 21 points in the Red Devils win over the Wolves Friday night at Lincolnton. Jackson Mullins added 14 points and Maverick Davis 11 as Newton-Conover improved to 4-4 on the season. Connor Williams had 18 points and Amontre Finger added 10 for Lincolnton, who fell to 4-2. The Wolves will play at East Lincoln on Tuesday, while the Red Devils play host to Bandys.

The Knights won their fourth straight with a convincing home win over the Mustangs on Friday.

Lake Norman Charter, who is just one half game behind the Mustangs for second place, will play at North Lincoln on Tuesday. East Lincoln will host rival Lincolnton.

Troy Fulton scored 23 points to lead the Eagles to their eighth win of the season. Sam Cogan had 19 points and Marcus Farley added 10 for Lincoln Charter (8-0, 7-0), who will host Thomas Jefferson on Tuesday.
