Former Mustang Johnson earns All-Conference honors

The Conference Carolinas announced the women’s basketball all-conference teams and major award winners ahead of the start of the 2021 Women’s Basketball Championship on Tuesday, recognizing Lees-McRae’s Destiny Johnson (Iron Station, N.C. / East Lincoln High School) for being named to the second team.  Johnson, a junior education major, leads the Bobcats in scoring and is 16th in the conference at 12.4 points/game, is second on the team in rebounding at 5.0 rebounds/game, and also leads the Conference Carolinas in steals (30) and steals/game (1.9). Johnson also leads the team in three-point field goal percentage (37.3 percent) and is second in the conference in free throw percentage (86.2 percent). The junior scored in double figures in 10 of the 16 Bobcat games this season, including tallying a career-high 34 points and 10 rebounds in a road victory at Converse on Feb. 9.
