David “Peewee” Emsley Johnson

David “Peewee” Emsley Johnson, age 70 of Lincolnton, passed away, Saturday, October 12, 2019 at his residence.

 He was born on May 11, 1949 in Lincoln County to the late Charles Taft Johnson Sr and Beatrice Ivey Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Gloria Dean Bryant, brother Fred William Johnson, Sr. and great granddaughter Emma Mackenzie Pierce.

 David attended Maiden High School. He was a retired truck driver, former owner of J & J Fishing Tournaments and Championship TV Fishing Show. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed shooting pool, and spending time with his family. He loved the Lord and worshiped every day with Shepherds Chapel.

 Left to cherish his memory: Wife of 49 years:  Linda McCray Johnson of the home, 3 Daughters:  Patricia Mae Gilbert of Lincolnton, April Johnson Ballard of Lincolnton, Valerie Johnson Keffer of Hopewell, VA, Son:  Daniel Jeremiah Johnson of the home, 6 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Brothers: Jack Johnson; Charles Johnson, Jr., 4 Sisters: Evelyn Isaac; Linda Drum; Susie Peavey; Emma Stewart.

A memorial service will be held, Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Maiden.

 The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Jerry Daniel Hoover, age 67, of Lincolnton, died on Monday, October 14, 2019.

 A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2019, at Bethphage Lutheran Church with Pastor Fred Mitschke officiating.  The family will receive friends on Friday from 11:00 until 11:45 a.m. in the Family Life Center. 

 Jerry was born January 6, 1952, in Lincoln County, to the late Daniel Webster Hoover and Letha Hallman Hoover.  He worked as a lab technician for National Beverage.

 He is survived by a brother, Tony Hoover, and wife Deborah, of Claremont.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Bethphage Lutheran Church, 3440 Highway 182, Lincolnton, NC  28092.

Funeral Service is October 18, 2019 at 3 p.m. at Providence Missionary Baptist Church with burial to follow at Poplar Springs A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service.

Ricky “Rick” Marion Burke, 65 of Maiden, passed away October 14, 2019.

The funeral service will be held October 17, 2019 at 4 p.m. at Centerview Baptist Church in Maiden. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 5:30 to 7:30 at Centerview Baptist Church.
