Mary Ellen McGinnis Lindsay, 73, of Cherryville passed away October 18, 2019.

 Fred Leonard “Boone” Sipe Sr.

Fred Leonard “Boone” Sipe Sr., age 89, of Maiden passed away Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Brian Center in Lincolnton.  Fred was born April 28, 1930 in Catawba County to the late Lloyd Elfonzo Sipe and Carrie Mathis Sipe.  Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Army Airborne.  He was a member of Lawing’s Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden.   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Keever Sipe; a daughter, Rita Coffey;  two sisters and eight brothers.

He is survived by: 2 Sons:  Fred L. Sipe Jr. and Jeff Sipe, both of Maiden, 2 Daughters:  Pat Queen and husband Allen of Maiden,, Angie Black and husband Terry of Lincolnton, NC, Son-in-law:  Alan Coffey of Lincolnton, 4 Grandchildren:  Greg Queen, Brittany Landrum and husband Lankin, Derek Queen, Hannah Coffey, 2 Great-Grandchildren:  Liam and Landon Landrum.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at Lawing’s Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden with Rev. Jason Canipe officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3:00-3:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service.

Odell William Wilcox, Sr.

Odell William Wilcox, Sr. age 90 of Lewis Rd. went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Robin Johnson Hospice House.  He was born June 25, 1929 in Ashe County to the late Claude and Maggie Phillips Wilcox.  Odell was a member of Bethlehem Church in Gastonia.  He retired after 35 years from Carolina Freight.  He was very talented in archery in which he won many awards and trophies.  Odell also enjoyed hunting and was a ham radio operator for many years. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Lackey Wilcox; children, Jennie Sigmon, Larry Williamson, and Odell Wilcox, Jr.; and siblings, Minnie, Clifford, Hattie, Winnie, Ruby, Benny, Cora, Ellie, and Blanche. 

Survivors include his children, Guy Williamson, Pat Nash, and Rita Edwards and husband, Scott; sisters, Geneva Ashley and Rose Hallman; grandchildren, Malia, Kevin, Robb, Chelly. Jeff, Jennifer, Tammi, Lynn, Mechelle, Chad, Jason, Josh, and Jamie; and 23 great grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 12:00 PM at North Brook Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Wise, Rev. Jerry Lail, and Rev. Steve Black officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 to 11:45 PM prior to the service at the church.

Joyce Elaine Jackson, 70, of Hickory died Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Carolina Caring. Born Tuesday, February 15th, 1949 she was the daughter of Fred Pilkie and Dorothy Jackson . Infant child, George Aiden Winchell, Jr., age 13 months of Bolton Road in Catawba, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2019.

 George was born August 28, 2018 in Mecklenburg County to George Aiden and Jennifer Grant Winchell, Sr.  He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandfather, Douglas Bowen and his maternal great-uncle, Steve Barr.

 Survivors include his parents, George and Jennifer Winchell of the home; one sister, Preslee Roach of the home; paternal grandparents, George and Tammy Winchell of Sherrills Ford; maternal grandparents, Craig and Stephanie Foster of Catawba; paternal great-grandmothers, Debbie Bowen of Claremont and Nancy Winchell of Albemarle; maternal great-grandparents, Charles and Patsy Stephens of Stanley and Rev. Leroy and Linda Grant of Charlotte; three aunts, Jaclyn Atwell of Sherrills Ford, Trish Vanhoy of Stanley and Courtney Johnson of Lincolnton; three uncles, Carl Bowen of Statesville, Ethan Winchell of Sherrills Ford and Josh Grant of Denver; cousin, Liam Michael Faile of Lincolnton.

 Myra Estelle Hicks Little

Loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Myra Estelle Hicks Little, age 76, of Maiden passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory.  Myra was born November 18, 1942 in Lincoln County to the late Ted Johnson Hicks and the late Maudella Keener Hicks. Myra was a C.N.A. and was retired from the Brian Center in Mooresville.  She served in ministry with her husband of sixty years, Rev. Larry Little. She loved family geneology, camp-meeting, and her fur babies, Jet and River.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Randale Little; a daughter, Ronda Little; and a brother, T.J. Hicks. 

She is survived by: Husband:  Rev. Larry L. Little of the home, Son:  Bobby Little and wife Gail of Newton,

2 Daughters:  Angie Harris and husband Mike of Maiden, Regina Turner and husband Mitchell of Newton,

Grandchildren:  Rodney Little and wife Heather, Clay Little and wife Crystal, Brooke Ross and husband Stephen, Blair Little, Megen Walter and husband Travis, Leah Harris, Dustin Turner and wife Brittany, Lee Turner, Great Grandchildren:  Tucker Little, Cheyenne Little, Korbyn Harris, Aden Walter.

Mrs. Annie Carol McNeely Beaver, age 80 of Ellis Hoyle Road in Vale died on Saturday, October 19, 2019.

 Mrs. Beaver was born May 8, 1939 in Cleveland County to the late Grayson and Ethel Hastings McNeely.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Beaver; two brothers, Harold McNeely and Ray McNeely. Mrs. Beaver was retired from the furniture industry.

 She is survived by her husband, Lee Beaver of the home; one son, Jerry Beaver and fiancé Lynn Thomas of Vale; three brothers, Jack McNeely and wife Jo of Belwood, Charles McNeely and wife Sandra of Belwood, Jim McNeely and wife Nellie of NC; three sisters, Mary Tesner Allen of Shelby, Christine Henderson of Georgia, Betty Ledford of Sparta; two sisters-in-law, Louise Buff of Shelby and Laura McNeely of Lawndale; two grandchildren, Dillon Beaver of Hickory and Briana Parker of  Icard; three great grandchildren, Cash Parker and River Parker of Icard and Kinsley Ingle of Hickory.

 Bonita Faye Hager Warren

Bonita Faye Hager Warren, age 69, of Goodson Road in Maiden, died on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, after losing her courageous battle with cancer.  She was a beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. 

Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at Ivey Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Byrd and Rev. Jim Mathews officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Warren was born March 24, 1950, in Lincoln County, to the late Coley Eugene Hager and Gladys Goodson Hager.  She worked for Cronland Hardware and Cronland Lumber Company as the office manager and bookkeeper for 49 years. 

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gary “Tun” Warren of the home; a son, Jeffrey Warren (Kelly) of Denver; a daughter, Jennifer Woodsby (Jason) of Denver; a brother, Terry Hager of Maiden; sisters, Daphine Laney of Maiden, and Joyce Manera of Charlotte; and seven grandchildren.
