Etta June Supler Waite

Etta June Supler Waite, age 89 of Lincolnton, formerly of Oak Island, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2019 at her residence.

 rn February 4, 1930 in Ohio County, WV, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen Kent Supler. Etta was a member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church in Lincolnton. She was a graduate of UNC-Charlotte with a degree in Education. She taught at various schools throughout North Carolina. She was active in the Oceanview UMC Women’s Club for many years. In addition to her parents, a sister, Sally Morris preceded her in death.

 Left to cherish her memory: Loving Husband of 67 years: Jack Waite of the home, 3 Daughters: Beth Degrassi and husband, Dan of Oak Island, NC; Lisa McGhee of Lincolnton; Patty Griffith and husband, Gerald of Harrisburg, Son: John Waite and wife, Donna of Charlotte, Caregiver: Dolores Yates of Lincolnton, 7 Grandchildren; 11 Great-Grandchildren.

 A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at 1:00 PM at St. Lukes Episcopal Church, Lincolnton with Rev. Steve Hines officiating.

 The family will receive friends following the service in the Parish Hall.

Barry Edward Cloninger

Barry Edward Cloninger, age 65, of Rock Dam Road, Lincolnton, died Saturday, November 23, 2019 surrounded by family..

 His funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2019 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brad Painter officiating.  Burial will follow in the Gainsville Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Warlick Funeral Home.

 Mr. Cloninger was born on January 21, 1954 and was the son of the late Frank and Bernice Setzer Cloninger.  He was also preceded in death by a sister, Tena Cloninger. Mr. Cloninger worked as a fabricator and welder in the metal working industry.

 He is survived by his wife, Sandy M. Cloninger of the home; one son, Bradley Edward Cloninger and wife, Adrian of Lawndale, NC; one daughter, Jessica Walker and husband Adam of State Road, NC; one sister, Leslie Smith of Casar, NC; four grandchildren, Aniston and Harper Cloninger and Colton and Miles Walker and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold James Davis, 70, of Newton passed away  November 21, 2019.

 A service to celebrate Harold’s life was held November 24, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service in Newton. Burial with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory.  The family received friends on November 24, 2019 from 1 to 1:45 p.m. in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service.

Mary Jo Sigmon Houston, 89, of Conover passed away November 22, 2019.

Brenda Shook Bowman, 71, of Hickory passed away November 22, 2019.

A service to celebrate Brenda’s life will be held November 26, 2019 at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service in Newton. Burial will follow the service at Warlicks Baptist Church in Connelly Springs. The family will receive friends November 26, 2019 from 11:45 to 12:45 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Service in Newton.

 Rev. J. W. Crouse

Rev. J. W. Crouse, age 94, of Spencer Heights Drive, Lenoir, passed away Friday, November 22, 2019 at Lenoir Health Care.  He was born July 26, 1925 in Lincoln County to the late William “Bill” Leroy and Maggie Hester Crouse.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle Sigmon Crouse; one sister, Stella Brown; and one step-son, Edgar Barlow.

 Rev. Crouse had served as pastor at Roseland Baptist Church, Lincolnton, NC, and Antioch Baptist Church, Morganton, NC and was a member of Miller Hill Baptist Church for over 35 years.  He had also served as minister at Pride Resort Campground, Waynesville, NC for over 19 years.  J.W. dearly loved his kids, grandkids and family and was very hardworking, outgoing and never met a stranger.  He enjoyed working in his woodshop and gardening.

 Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Ruby Byerly Barlow Crouse of the home; two daughters, Barbara Barrier and Robin Huss and husband Randy, all of Lincolnton; a daughter-in-law, Ruby Barlow of Lenoir; one sister, Grace Spencer of Lincolnton; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

 Funeral services will be held Monday, November 25, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at Miller Hill Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Douglas Prevette.  Interment will follow the service at Gainsville Baptist Church Cemetery, 270 Gainsville Church Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092

 The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 1:00 prior to the service at the church.

 In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to Miller Hill Baptist Church Properties Fund, 1230 Virginia Street, SW, Lenoir, NC 28645 or Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645
