Dennis J. Black
Dennis J. Black passed away at home Monday, June 17, 2019. Dennis was born October 15, 1943 in Bessemer City, graduated from Bessemer City High, joined the army and served at the Pentagon in Army Intelligence. Dennis was one of the soldiers that marched in John F. Kennedy’s funeral procession. Survivors include, spouse, Donna Salomone, brother, John Black and his wife Kay of Hastings, Florida and sister, Kathy Hughes of Bessemer City. Dennis requested a simple cremation with no funeral or memorial service.

Douglas “Doug” Harold DeHart
Douglas “Doug” Harold DeHart, 80, of Maiden passed away Saturday, June 15, 2019 at his residence. Doug was born September 3, 1938 in Swain County to the late Joel DeHart and the late Nancy Lakey DeHart. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Doug was a member of Vertical Life Church in Newton and Balls Creek Optimist Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Cooper DeHart, a brother, and three sisters.
He is survived by: 2 Sons: Joel DeHart and wife Ann of Sherrills Ford, Jason DeHart and wife Christy of Lincolnton, Daughter: Kim Nickolette and husband Aaron of Cincinnati, OH, 6 Grandchildren: Harrison DeHart, Ryan Nickolette, Victoria DeHart, Chandler DeHart, Kylie DeHart, and Parker DeHart,
The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 24, 2019 at 4:00 pm at Center View Baptist Church in Maiden with Rev. Jonathan Foster and Rev. Joe Canipe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:30 – 3:45 pm at the church.

Mary Rita Dalton
Mary Rita Dalton, age 76, of Lincolnton, died on Sunday, June 16, 2019.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2019, at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state for thirty minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Ms. Dalton was born December 19, 1942, in Lincoln County, to the late Datha Pink “D.P.” Dalton and Mary Elizabeth Shrum Dalton. She worked as a teacher for the Shelby City Schools.
She is survived by a brother, Bob Dalton, and wife Mary Ervin Dalton, of Iron Station; a nephew, Rob Dalton, and wife Lee Ann, of Iron Station; and two great-nieces, Caroline Dalton and Isabelle Dalton.

Bobbie Clark Byers
Bobbie Clark Byers, age 82, of Salem Church Road in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, June 12, 2019.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019, at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Bobbie was born July 27, 1936, in Fort Mill, South Carolina, to the late Cecil and Juanita MacDonald Clark. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John Edgar Byers; and three sisters, Peggy Clark, Virginia Hellard, and Carolyn Snider. She worked for over thirty years as a CNA at Crowell Hospital.
She is survived by a son, Mark Byers, and wife Shana, of Marvin, NC; three sisters, Faye Loftin, and husband Terry, of Denver, Jean Dellinger, and husband George, of Iron Station, and Otelia Huggins, of Dallas, NC; a grandson, John Ellison Byers of Marvin, NC; and a granddaughter, Kendall Byers of Marvin, NC.
