Julia McLurd Harvey

Julia McLurd Harvey, age 93, of Lincolnton, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2019.

 Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2019, at Crouse United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Sanders officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. at the church.

 Mrs. Harvey was born January 25, 1926, in Lincoln County, to the late Wayne and Emma Sullivan McLurd.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ause Mack Harvey, and a brother, Jim McLurd.  She worked as a math teacher for the Lincoln County School System.

 Those who will forever cherish her memory are her sons, Mack Harvey, and wife Sonia, and Jeff Harvey, and wife Rhonda, all of Lincolnton; a daughter, Janet Beal, and husband Eddie, of Lincolnton; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Beal, Natalie Roth (Nathan), Alicia Rhodes (Charlie), Michael Harvey, Linda Harvey, Christyn Boston (Jacob), Casey Hull and Jordan Hull; and two great-grandchildren, Grace Roth and Riley Roth; special niece, Cathy Kelly; special nephew, Jimmy McLurd; and her beloved pets, Carter and Emma.

 Memorials may be made to the Crouse United Methodist Church, PO Box 43, Crouse, NC  28033.

 The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Ginger Helton, Tammy Lowery, and Anna Reynolds.

 Mr. Sydney Charles Royster

Mr. Sydney Charles Royster, age 92, of Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, July 2, 2019.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2019, at Bethphage Lutheran Church with Pastor Fred Mitschke officiating.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. in the Family Life Center of Bethphage Lutheran Church.

Mr. Royster was born June 12, 1927, in Lincoln County to the late Alvin and Mary Leonard Royster.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Louise Murphy.  Mr. Royster served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, and then later worked for Carolina Freight Carriers as a long-haul driver.   Mr. Royster was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish with his wife and family.

 He is survived by his wife, Betty Carswell Royster of the home; a son, Mitchell Royster, and wife Martha, of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Betty Royster and Charles Royster; and brothers and sisters, Tom Royster, Jane R. Elmore, Linda R. Sain, Bob Royster, and Terry Royster, all of Lincolnton.

 Jeanette Lynch Wilson

Jeanette Lynch Wilson, 91, of Newton passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Carolina Caring of Newton.

 She was born November 25, 1927 in Lincoln County to the late Robert and Georgia Bolick Lynch.  Jeanette was a member of Cornerstone Church in Maiden.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Wilson; son, Marty Wilson; grandson, Dustin Wilson; sister, Clare Ruth Johnson; brothers, Clement Lynch, Cleveland Lynch and Robert Lynch.

 Those left to cherish her memory are; Daughter: Rosemary Dagenhardt and husband Melvin of Claremont,

Brother: Earl Lynch and wife Jan of Lincolnton, Sisters: Rose Story of Lincolnton, Roxanna Parker of Lincolnton,

Grandchildren: Holly Walker, Amy Moose, Lori McCaslin and Chase Whitener, Great-Grandchildren: Trevor Walker, Brant Walker, Madison Hatchett, Erica McCaslin and Lauren Keller, Great-Great-Grandchild: Paris Gaye.

 A memorial service to celebrate Jeanette’s life was held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Church in Maiden. Dr. Gregory Dry will officiate. The family received friends on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 from 2:00-2:45 p.m. at Cornerstone Church.

 Samuel “Sam” Ward

Samuel “Sam” Ward, 82, of Hickory June 30, 2019.

Services celebrating Sam’s life will be held at Christ Church, 2416 Zion Church Road, Hickory July 3, 2019 at 11 am. Visitation with the family will take place an hour prior to the service. Following the funeral, Sam will be interned beside his wife at Catawba Valley Memorial Park in Hickory.

Gene Thomas Cuthrell, 90 of Newton passed away July 2, 2019.

A service to celebrate Gene’s life will be held July 5, 2019 at 3 p.m. Burial with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory. The family will receive friends July 5, 2019 from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. at Discovery Church.

Alberta Bines Watkins, 82, passed away June 30, 2019.

Funeral Service is July 6, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Calvary, Vale. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial is to follow in the church cemetery.
