Betty Lou Goins Dellinger, 80 passed away January 17, 2019.

A memorial service will be held today at 5 p.m. at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services. Burial will be private.  The family will receive friends today from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Charlotte Joan Neal Gardner, 80, of Catawba passed away January 17, 2019.

The funeral service will be held January 22, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Catawba Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery in Catawba. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the church, prior to the service.

John “Johnny” Harold Rader

John “Johnny” Harold Rader, Jr., 77, of Claremont passed away Friday, January 18, 2019.

A service to celebrate Johnny’s life will be held January 21, 2019 at 3 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Claremont. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 21, 2019 from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church.

 Walter Michael Nale

Walter Michael Nale, age 69 of River Road in Lincolnton died Sunday, January 20, 2019.

Mr. Nale was born August 27, 1949 in Lincoln County to the late Jack Nale and Helen Forrester Nale. He was Vice-President of Thornburg Machine and Supply Company.

His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2019 at Boger City Baptist Church. Rev. Bill Bigham will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Byrd Nale of the home; two sons, Wesley Nale and wife Molly, Michael Nale and wife Jada both of Lincolnton; sister, Kay Kerr of Gastonia; three grandchildren, Maxus Nale, Emmie Nale and Livie Nale.

Ms. Mary Ellen Carpenter

Ms. Mary Ellen Carpenter, 72, of Leonhardt Road, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.

Ms. Carpenter was born in Cleveland County, NC on December 8, 1946 a daughter of the late William "Bill" Carpenter and Willie Mae Costner Carpenter.  She retired from Mohican Mills in Lincolnton and cared for her mother until she passed.  Ms. Carpenter was a member of Bess Chapel United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth "Jake" Carpenter and Aaron Carpenter.

Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Walsh Williams and husband Jeff of Cherryville; a grandson Jakob Williams and her beloved dog Pumpkin.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 12:45 to 1:45PM at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church and at other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Alice Day officiating.

Burial will be in Bess Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Timothy Jason Costner

Timothy Jason Costner, 35 of Kadesh Church Road, Lawndale passed away, January 19, 2019 at Carolinas Medical Center - Main.

Born November 3, 1983 in Lincoln County, he was a son of Jimmy Dean Costner and Lori Ann Clark Church.  

In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife of 19 years, Nicole Dawn Costner; two sons, Jason Costner and Cody Costner; a daughter, Haley Costner and a sister, Nikki Stokes.

Visitation will be 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Monday at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.  At other times the family will be at 1156 E. Stagecoach Trail, Lawndale.

A funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Monday at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Alex Clark and Mr. Daniel Sneed officiating.

Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Fallston.

Mr. David Lawrence Blackburn

Mr. David Lawrence Blackburn, Sr., 82, of 507 Pine Grove Avenue, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Hospice at Wendover in

Shelby.

David was born on July 27, 1936 in Lincoln County, NC a son of the late Rev. Robert G. "R.G." Blackburn and Edna Hoffman Blackburn.  He was member of Crouse Baptist Church.  David worked for Cherry Motors in Cherryville and retired from the City of Cherryville as Public Works Director.  He served in the U.S. Army.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jacqueline Heavner Blackburn of the home; a son, David L. Blackburn, Jr. (Amy) of Kings Mountain; two daughters, Terri Davis (Stan) of Iron Station and Lynn Lail of Lincolnton; two grandchildren Jennifer Cothran (Greg); Brandon Houser and fiancé Tori Wittmann; five great grandchildren three brothers, Walter Blackburn, Jim Blackburn and Marshall Blackburn all of Lincolnton.

Visitation will be on Monday, January 21, 2018 from 12:45 to 1:45PM at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Hill officiating.

Burial will be in City Memorial Cemetery.

Anthony Major Duncan, age 25, of Peeler Road, Vale died Friday, January 18, 2019.

He is survived by his father, Anthony Duncan of Tennessee: step-father   Curtis Taylor and mother Tanya Taylor of the home; three brothers, Seth Taylor of the home, Gavin Taylor of the home and Chance Duncan of Vale; six sisters, Tessa Taylor, Anneliese Taylor, Autumn Taylor, Amber Taylor, Shanee Duncan all of the home and Jasmine Shoul of Vale and his step-sister, Khloe Duncan of Tennessee.

Jimmy Lynn Osborne, 52, died Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Atrium Health-Charlotte. A native of Lincoln Co., he was the son of Betty Jean Starne and Jimmy and Janet Osborne. He was a loving brother who loved his dogs and was a cook at The Creekside Clock. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughters, Alyssa and Ashlee; sisters Rebecca, Christy, Angela and Jane; brothers Doug, Raymond and Larry; grandchildren Emma and Tillie; and his fur baby Fatty. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM, Monday, January 21 in the chapel of Clay-Barnette.
