A memorial service was held February 13, 2019 at 4:30 p.m. at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Maiden.

A service to celebrate Arnold’s life will be held February 16, 2019 at 11 a.m. at North Newton Baptist Church. Burial with military honors by Sandy Ridge American Legion Post 544 will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory. Helen Mae Crouse Lawing

Helen Mae Crouse Lawing, age 90 of The Brian Center of Lincolnton and formerly of Maiden passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Carolina Caring at Sherrills Ford.

 Born January 12, 1929 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Fred and Sara Mae Travis Crouse. Helen was a faithful member of Friendly Chapel Baptist Church for over 60 years, where she taught the children’s Sunday School Class for 47 years. She retired from the garment industry where she was a supervisor for 35 years. In addition to her parents, husband, Clemit Lawing; brothers, Gaither Crouse and wife Bonnie; Herman “Bud” Crouse and wife Marceline preceded her in death.

 Left to cherish her memory: Son: Rick Lawing and wife, Linda of Maiden, 2 Grandsons: Matthew Lawing of Wilmington; Casey Lawing of Atlanta, GA, Brother: Harold Crouse and wife, Jo Ann of Newton, Numerous loving nieces and nephews.

 Special thanks to the nurses and staff at the Brian Center and the nurses and staff at Atrium Health Lincoln for their excellent care.

 The funeral service will be held Friday, February 15, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Friendly Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden with Pastor Jeff Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

 The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-2:45 PM at the church.

Robert "Bob" Edward Walters

Robert "Bob" Edward Walters, 65 of 1515 Larry Davis Road, Lawndale passed away, February 10, 2019 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

Born December 23, 1953 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Edward E. Walters, Jr. and Jane Taylor Walters.  He was retired from NCR Corporation and was an employee of Ferguson Enterprises.  Bob was of the Catholic Faith and loved riding Harley Motorcycles, and adopting and rescuing animals.  He

served in the US Marines for five years.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, William E. Walters.

Survivors include his wife, Penni Lynn Davis; four sisters, Joan M. Walters, Judith W. Keating, Nancy J. Walters and Marybeth W. Testerman; his little three year old buddy, JJ; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Friday at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Friday at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Kilby and Mr. Gordon Cable officiating.

Pauline Clay Harrelson

Pauline Clay Harrelson, 99, of Stagecoach Trail, Fallston, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Hickory Falls Health and Rehab in Granite Falls.

Born in Cleveland County, on October 1, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Caleb Frank Clay and Martha Hoyle Clay.  She had worked for Stamey Stores, Inc, but mainly was employeed in banking as a teller for Union Trust, BB&T and Wells Fargo. Pauline was member of Friendship United Methodist Church. She loved looking after and caring for children by keeping them in her home and as a foster grandmother for Cleveland County Schools up until age 94.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in by her husband Charles Stough Harrelson; six brothers, Charlie Clay, Jim Clay, D.H. Clay, Hugh Clay, Robert Clay and William Clay; and two sisters, Maggie Wease and Kate Watson.

She is survived by a son, Alan Harrelson of Fallston; daughter, Ann H. U'Ren and husband Rickey of Hickory; three granddaughters, Melissa Zickefoose and husband Brian, Amber Harrelson, and Brandy Towery; and four great grandchildren, Raylan Zickefoose, Alyssa Montecuollo, Averee Montecuollo,

and Kylee Goins. 

The family will recieve friends on Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston.

The funeral service will be on Thursday at 3:00 PM at Friendship United Methodist Church with the Rev. Neal Brower and Rev. Fred Towery officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the Rose Hill Memorial Park.
