Margaret "Granny" Reep Ingle

Margaret "Granny" Reep Ingle, 91 of Lincolnton passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Atrium Health-Lincolnton.

Born July 17, 1928 in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Luther Jones Reep and Minnie Pearl Rhyne Reep.  She retired from Crown Threads as a winder after twenty-six years of service and was a lifetime member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Lincolnton.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Junior Ingle; daughter-in-law, Sheila Ingle; and four brothers, Lewis Reep, Ervin Reep, Jake Reep and Huitt Reep.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Ingle Dellinger and Doug Wise of Lincolnton; son, Danny Ingle of Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Meleah Ingle Anthony and husband, Matthew of Cherryville, Paige Ingle Smith and husband, Scott of Newton and Kelli Dellinger Beam and husband, Trey of Cherryville; five great-grandchildren, Alexis Anthony, Faith Anthony, McKenzie Smith, Aaren Smith and Darrah Beam; a great-great grandson, Bentley Anthony; two brothers, Dean Reep of Lincolnton and Yates Reep of Denver and a sister, Faye Shidal of Vale.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston

A funeral service will be Thursday at 1:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dr. Charles M. Futrell & Dr. Robert Keith Wise officiating.

Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Colonel Robert Houston Weas

Colonel Robert Houston Wease of Staunton, Virginia died peacefully at home on Friday, November 22, 2019.

 Born in Lincolnton, NC on August 29, 1932, Bob was the son of C. C. Wease and Annie Mae Schrum Wease.  He is survived by his wife Mary Alice Heavner Wease, son Timothy Dmitri Wease, daughter Allyson Wease Watkins (Jim), and grandchildren Mary Margaret Watkins, Alexandra Claire Wease, and Robert Wease Watkins.  He is also survived by his twin brother James Hugh Wease (Cynthia), and brother William Louie Wease (Lois). 

 Bob served in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War, and graduated from East Carolina College.  He dedicated his life to teaching, 20 years at Staunton Military Academy, and 33 years at Fishburne Military School.  Bob’s devotion and care for his cadets was absolute.  His fairness, deliberate manner, and quiet and civil demeanor commanded attention and respect, and he touched the lives and shaped the character of countless thousands of young men.  His influence and legacy will be enjoyed for many, many years to come.

 A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Staunton.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Staunton Military Academy Alumni Foundation, Fishburne Military School, or the Gypsy Hill Park Campaign.

 William Paul Kennedy

William Paul Kennedy, age 86, of Sumner Street in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, December 1, 2019.

 A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2019, at High Shoals Church of God with Pastor Danny Shortridge and Pastor Marie Greene officiating.  Interment will follow in the High Shoals Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 until 11:45 a.m. at the church.

 Mr. Kennedy was born October 8, 1933, in Polk County, to the late Robert Ford Kennedy, Jr. and Elvia Higgins Kennedy.  He worked in textiles.

 He is survived by a daughter, Debbie Jenkins (Frankie Cline) of Statesville; two sons, Robert Dale Kennedy (Pam) of Shelby, and Stephen Kennedy of Lincolnton; four grandchildren, Ricky Jenkins (Carrie) of Pumpkin Center, Josh Jenkins (C.J.) of Vale, Debbie Poole (Dustin) if High Shoals, and Stephen Kennedy of Albemarle; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mary Jo Warren Sloop, age 85, of Lincolnton, died on Sunday, December 1, 2019.

 Her funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at Bethphage Lutheran Church with Pastor Frederick Mitschke officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:00 until 3:15 p.m. at the church.

 Mrs. Sloop was born March 29, 1934, in Mecklenburg County, to the late Joseph Vance Warren and Mary Bost Warren. 

 She is survived by her husband, Perry Sloop of the home; a daughter, Christina Huitt, and husband Jason, of Cherryville; a grandson, Levi Huitt of Cherryville; and a brother, Michael Warren of Roxboro, NC.

 Memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, 258 E. Garrison Blvd., Gastonia, NC  28054.

Carrol Glenn “Dee” Harris, 85, of Hickory passed away November 30, 2019.

 The funeral service will be held December 5, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Newton. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory with military honors by American Legion Post 16 of Newton. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30-1:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

Judy will lie in state at the church from 12:00-12:45 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The Family will receive friends December 5, 2019 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church Family Life Center.
