Eddie Franklin Morrison, age 59, of 186 James Street in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, August 20, 2019.

His funeral service will be held 2:00 on Friday, August 23, 2019 at Southside Baptist Church with Dr. Jaie Warlick, Rev. Charles Ingle  and Rev. Dan Farnsworth officiating.   His body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Warlick Funeral Home.

Eddie was born March 29, 1960 in Lincoln County, to Jesse Franklin and Dorothea Helms Morrison.  He was the owner of Eddie’s Lawn Mower Repair.

He is survived by a son, Daniel Morrison of Lincolnton; his parents, Jessie Franklin “J.F.” and Dorothea Helms Morrison of Lincolnton, two sisters, Andrea Gaston, and husband Gary, and Janeen Howard, and husband Marty, all of Lincolnton; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Morrison and Brianna Morrison; nephew, Tyler Howard and wife Kristen and their children, Natalie and Ally Kate; niece, Jennifer Clement and husband Michael and their daughter, Kirsten; and beloved dog, Missy

Alex Michael Barnard

Alex Michael Barnard, age 66, of Iron Station, NC, died on Saturday, August 17, 2019.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at Denver United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Autrey and Rev. Tim Killian officiating.  Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the church.

Alex was born November 24, 1952, in Salem, Indiana.  He was the son of the late Claude Barnard and Irma (Deatrick) Barnard.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers Roger and Greg Barnard, and an infant son.  Alex married Peggy Hannel on April 10, 1982, in Palmyra, Indiana before moving to Denver, NC in 1984.  Alex retired from Hall Contracting Corporation, Charlotte, NC, after 37 years as shop superintendent, heavy machine operator/mechanic, and truck driver.  He was a member of Denver United Methodist Church and Upper Room Sunday School class.  Alex always offered a helping hand for anyone in need and never met a stranger he couldn’t have a conversation with.  He was a supporter of American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, as well as Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln County. 

Alex is survived by his wife, Peggy Hannel Barnard of Iron Station; daughter, Heather Barnard Farson, and husband Jonathan, of Sylva, NC; sister, Claudia Barnard Coffey, and husband Gary, of Indiana; sister, Nancy Baker of Indiana; sister, Sandra Bowling, of Indiana; sister, Debbie Barnard of Indiana; brother, Jeff Barnard, and wife Connie, of Indiana; sister-in-law, Patricia Barnard of Indiana; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and beloved dog, Rusty.

Kevin Leroy Hoyle

Kevin Leroy Hoyle, age 57, of 3902 Maiden Highway in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, August 18, 2019.

His funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at McKendree United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Plott officiating.  Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Charlotte.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:45 until 11:15 in the fellowship building.

Kevin was born April 7, 1962, in Mecklenburg County, to the late Ervin Leroy Hoyle and Shirley Sain Hoyle.  He worked in maintenance for Lowe’s. 

He is survived by a daughter, Ashley Holt of Wisconsin; a brother, Steven Hoyle of Georgia; and four grandchildren, Kelsey Cato, Christina Hyatt, Audrie Hyatt, and Kymber Hyatt.

Kenneth Herman Poovey

Kenneth Herman Poovey, age 82 of Denver passed away Monday, August 19, 2019 at Abernethy Laurels in Newton.

Born April 15, 1937 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Grover Herman and Rosa Mae Beard Poovey. Kenneth was a U.S. Army Veteran. In addition to his parents, infant son, Benny David Poovey; daughter, Julie Poovey Hull; sister, Gaye Poovey Mills and granddaughter, Ashley Poovey preceded him in death.

Alvin Garry Stallings, age 78, of 4717 Morning Glory Way in Rocky Mount, died on Sunday, August 18, 2019.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2019, at McKendree United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. in the fellowship building.

Mr. Stallings was born July 29, 1941, in Lincoln County, to the late Olen Henry Stallings and Ola Mae McMurry Stallings.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Carolyn Sisk Stallings; a sister, Nancy Baucom; and a brother, Bill Stallings.  He retired from Carolina Freight Carriers/ABF Trucking Company.

He is survived by three daughters, Jackie Chapman (Larry Ray), Kim Key (Kevin Dwayne), and Penny White (Roger), all of Nashville, NC; two sisters, Louise Scronce (Jerry), and Pat Lingerfelt (Ray), all of Lincolnton; and two grandchildren, Ashley Lynn White and Travis Lynn White.
