Billy Leo Nail, 91, formerly of Cherryville, passed away July 23, 2019.

Visitation will be from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. August 10, 2019 in the Vida Dellinger Parlor at St. John's Lutheran Church. A memorial service will be held at 1p.m. on August 10, 2019 in the Rhyne-White Chapel at St. John's Lutheran Church. A private burial will be in the church cemetery.

Clyde “Jerry” Mitchell, 82, of Grassy Creek passed away August 6, 2019.

 Robert Dean Franklin

Robert Dean Franklin, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2019.

 A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2019, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Beth Brittain officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:15 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. 

Born on October 11, 1930, Bob grew up in Bronte, Texas, and served in the United States Air Force.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Inez Nutter. 

He was an avid Texas Longhorn fan, but enjoyed all sports, which led to a long career as a sports writer at Delaware County Daily Times in Pennsylvania. 

In 1989, he met Peggy Lippard, and they enjoyed over 30 years of love and travel.  In 2004, he moved from Pennsylvania to Lincolnton to be near her, and has since made many friends and acquaintances through his daily meetings at the local Hardee’s and McDonald’s. 

Bob is survived by his love, Peggy Lippard; Peggy’s sons, Chuck Lippard, and wife Charlene, of Sherrills Ford, and Mark Lippard, and wife Beth, of Denver; and Peggy’s grandsons, Coley Lippard and Braxton Lippard.  Relatives from Texas include his sister, Anne Ivy; a brother, William Franklin; nieces, Phyllis Russell, and husband Danny, Melissa Lowe, and Jan Gray; nephews, Roy Ivy, Dennis Ivy, and John Paul Thompson.

Special thanks to Hospice of Lincoln County, who provided support during Bob’s illness.

 Rebecca Harris

Rebecca Harris, 70, of Finney Circle, Macon, GA passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2019.

Born in Cleveland County, on February 14, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Andy David Harris, Sr.  and Louanna Costner Harris.  She was a member of Plainsview Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a brother Larry Dean Harris.

She is survived by two brothers, Andrew Harris and wife Brenda of Cherryville and Gene Harris of Bessemer City.

The family will receive friends today from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be today at 3:00 PM in the Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel.

The burial will follow the service in the Plainsview Baptist Church Cemetery.

Margaret Elizabeth Heavner, 93, of Decatur passed away Tuesday Aug. 6, 2019 at her home. She was a lifetime member of the AMVET Auxillary. She liked cooking, fishing and crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Ola Bridges, husband Charlie Heavner, daughter Geraldine Heavner Kanipe Deden, granddaughter Carole Heavner, sister Juanita Harrison, brothers Fred, Luie and Claude Bridges.

She is survived by her daughter Yvonne Heavner Weese Wilson, 8 grandchildren, over 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren including Mason.

The family will receive friends at Bowers Funeral Home 5-7 PM Friday. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 7 PM with Pastor Larry Johnson officiating. Burial and graveside services will be 2 PM Sunday Aug.11, 2019 at Forest Lawn Cemetery HWY 150 East, Lincolnton, N.C.
