The funeral service was held April 25, 2019 at 5 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Conover. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 - 4:45 p.m. at the church, prior to the service.

Geraldine “Deanie” Thomas Canipe,  90, of Newton passed away April 25, 2019. 

The funeral service will be April 28, 2019 at 4 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church in Maiden.  Burial will follow at Maiden City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday from 2 - 3:45 p.m. at the church, prior to the service.

Danny Joe Little, 73, of Conover passed away April 24, 2019.

A service to celebrate Danny’s life will be held April 27, 2019 at 2 p.m. at St. Peter’s. Lutheran Church in Conover. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on April 26, 2019 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

 Judson Dickey Payseur

Judson Dickey Payseur, age 88, of Lincolnton, NC passed away April 23, 2019 at his residence.  He was born on October 26, 1930 in Gaston County to the late Charles Jerome and Mary Beulah Whiteside Payseur.  He served in the U.S. Army for two years.  He was a retired machinist who worked in the tool manufacturing industry. 

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Florence Danner Payseur and three brothers Garnett Payseur, Lester Payseur and George Payseur.

Mr. Payseur is survived by one daughter, Michelle Payseur of the home, and one sister, Mary Splawn of Gastonia, NC.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 10:00am - 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, Maiden NC. 

The funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Maiden City Cemetery.

Wilford Lee Canipe

Wilford Lee Canipe, age 78, of Cat Square Road in Vale, died on Wednesday, April 24, 2019.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Palm Tree United Methodist Church with Rev. Freida Hobson officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The body will lie in state for forty-five minutes prior to the service.  Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2019, at Warlick Funeral Home. 

Mr. Canipe was born November 23, 1940, in Catawba County, to the late Horace and Edith Carpenter Canipe.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Dean Canipe; and a sister, Catherine Isenhour.  He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Upon returning, Mr. Canipe was one of the founders of the Propst VFD and the Cooksville VFD, and then later worked as a truck driver and retired farmer. 

He is survived by his wife, Linda Shull Canipe of the home; a daughter, Karen C. Chapman, and Billy; a brother, James Canipe, and wife Pam, of Lincolnton; three sisters, Lela Childers of Lincolnton, and Daphine Swain and Ann Hastings, both of Statesville; and one grandson, Gerald Tyler Lee Helms.

Shirley Ann Murrell Hall

Shirley Ann Murrell Hall, age 81, of Odyssey Lane in Sylva, died on Tuesday, April 23, 2019.

Her funeral will be held 11:30 a.m. today in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Nathan Grooms officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. today prior to the service at the funeral home.

She was born May 11, 1937, in Knox County, Tennessee, to the late John Pinkney Murrell and Georgia Eva Baker Murrell.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy C. Murrell; three sisters, Ruby Gantt, Dorothy Gheen, and Betty Lynch; a grandson, Dusty Dwight Davis; and a great-great-grandson, Kaidyn Reese Nichols.  She worked in textiles.  

She is survived by a son, Fred Wayne Hall, Jr., of Lincolnton; two daughters, Cynthia Elayne Hall of Sylva, and Sandra Kay Conley and husband, Gerry of Lincolnton; three grandchildren; six great-children; and one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
