Walter Joseph McBride, 88, of Maiden passed away March 11, 2019.

A memorial service to celebrate Walter’s life was held March 31, 2019 at 2 Lake Norman Lutheran Church in Denver.

Oscar A. Shinn, Sr., 72, passed away March 22, 2019.

A memorial service was be held at 5 p.m.  on March 31, 2019 at Emmanuel Baptist Church. The family will greet friends following the service. Burial will be private.

Mary Diane Bradshaw, 57, of Hickory passed away March 29, 2019.

 A memorial service will be held April 2, 2019 at 5 p.m. at 316 Christian Community Church in Hickory.  The family will receive friends following the service.

Gloria “Sue” Stilwell West

Gloria “Sue” Stilwell West, 71, passed away March 15, 2019.

No services are scheduled at this time.

James Earl Brown, 85, passed away March 28, 2019.

 Muriel Willis Saine

Muriel Willis Saine, 96, of Vale, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Catawba Valley Living at Rock Barn in Claremont.

She was born in Lincoln County on February 27, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Arlandus "Lannie" Willis and Hattie Costner Willis.  She was the owner and operator of Aunt Muriel's Daycare until her retirement.  She was a member of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband. Walter Hugh Saine; four brothers, Dwight Willis, Irdell Willis, A.R. Willis, and L.A. Willis; and two sisters, Pearl Sigmon and Mae Benfield.

She is survived by three sons, Wally Saine and wife Debbie of Newton, Terry Saine of Valdese, and Jimmy Saine and wife Phyllis of Catawba; two sisters, Nell Yarbro of Vale and Ruby Cook of Lawndale; six grandchildren, Cameron Saine, Bradley Saine, Erich Saine, Dusty Saine, Alan Saine and Erin Matthews; eight great-grandchildren, Cayden, Banks, Asa, Lily Ruthe, Crosby

Dean, Emma Grace, Callen and Madilyn.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Laurel Hill United Methodist Church, Vale.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:30 PM at Laurel Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cathy Turman and Rev Ed Lynn officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Laurel Hill United Methodist Church, 8364 W. Hwy. 27, Vale, NC 28168.

Mr. John L. Robinson

Mr. John L. Robinson, III passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019 at his residence.

John was born in Mecklenburg County, NC on August 3, 1949 the son of the late J. Linwood Robinson, Jr. and Madge Beam Robinson.  He was retired from Lincoln County Schools as a high school science teacher.  John enjoyed going to area flea markets and working in his yard and garden.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Robinson, of the home; a daughter, Laura Robinson; a son Mac Robinson and a granddaughter, Malia Thomasson all of Cherryville.

A private graveside service will be held at Edgewood Cemetery in Lowell.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Ave Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28207 or to honor John's memory the family asks that you go to an area flea market or purchase a plant for your yard.
