Ronald Eugene (Gene) Hensley

Ronald Eugene (Gene) Hensley, 68, of Hickory, NC, passed away April 17, 2019.

 A memorial service with military honors will take place April 20, at 11 at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Conover. An informal receiving of friends and family will follow. The inurnment at his parents’ gravesite will take place at a later time.

Ruby Nell Simmons Anthony

Ruby Nell Simmons Anthony, age 72 of River Hill Trail, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Atrium Health Lincolnton. She was born March 27, 1947 in Catawba County to the late Clyde Emory and Beulah Lutz Simmons. Ruby was retired as Deputy Clerk of Court with Lincoln and Catawba Counties.  She was a faithful member of Salem Lutheran Church where she was always active in anything going on at the church.  Ruby also enjoyed watching tv with her family and traveling, whether it be to the beach or the mountains.  She was an amazing mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother to her family. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bryon Lee “Nick” Anthony; brother, Joe Emory Simmons; sister, Dorothy Mae Simmons; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Simmons. 

Left to cherish her memory are her sons; Woodie Anthony and wife, Lisa, and Travis Anthony and wife, Rachel all of Lincolnton; three granddaughters, Alayna, Alycia, and Alexis Anthony; brother, Claude Pinkney Simmons of Newton; and her grandpuppy, Rosaleigh. 

Ruby’s family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday April 19, 2019 at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services. 

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday April 20, 2019 at Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor Dale Pederson officiating.  Burial will follow at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery.

Sandra Darlene Ramsey Leonhardt, age 68 of Lincolnton passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Carolina Caring in Sherrills Ford.

Born January 31, 1951 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Blair Theodore and Glendora Campbell Ramsey. In addition to her parents, sister, Vickie Ramsey preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memory: Husband of 51 years: Ronnie Leonhardt of the home, Son: Jeff Leonhardt and wife, Julie of Lincolnton, Daughter: Mandy Baugus and husband, Jonathan of Lincolnton, 4 Grandchildren: Wesley Leonhardt; Kara Hinkle; Katelyn Leonhardt; Lily Hinkle, 2 Sisters: Chrissy Leatherman of Lincolnton; Gail Schronce of Lincolnton.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 20, 2019 from 1:00-3:00 PM at Cline Farm Clubhouse, 1675 Cline Farm Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092 with a private celebration of life service to follow with Pastor Mike Collins officiating.

Mrs. Janet Marie Dellinger Eaker

Mrs. Janet Marie Dellinger Eaker, 66, of Bess Chapel Church Road, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Atrium Health in Lincolnton.

Janet was born in Lincoln County, NC on May 22, 1952 a daughter of Wilma Miller Dellinger of Cherryville and the late John F. Dellinger.  She was a member of Bess Chapel United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and also served the church in many other capacities.  Janet worked for Doran Mills in Cherryville, Pathways in Gastonia and retired from Partners Behavioral Health in Hickory.  She was also a member of Fallston Chapter #282 Order of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband of 48 years, Robert Craft "Snake" Eaker of the home; a son Mark Eaker and wife MaryEllen; a grandson, Lance Alston Eaker; a brother, John Dellinger and wife Katie and a niece, Sandy Dellinger all of Cherryville.

Visitation will be from 10:45AM to 11:45AM on Friday, April 19, 2019 at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church and at other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00PM on Friday, April 19, 2019 at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Alice Day officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with Eastern Star Rites.

Joyce Jeanette Ritchie Barnes, age 70, of Startown Road in Lincolnton, passed peacefully on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, after fighting a nine-year battle with cancer.

Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Marvin United Methodist Church with Rev. Amy Vaughan officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 until 12:45 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

Joyce was born February 15, 1949, in Shelby, North Carolina, to the late Carrol Vernon Ritchie and Lucille Wood Ritchie.  She was co-owner of Carolina Hardware. 

 She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Jerry “Skip” Barnes of the home; two daughters, Lori (Rev. Henry) Altman of Dillon, SC, and Kristen (Kristopher) Siebenhar of Denver, NC; four grandchildren, Jacob Altman, Emma Altman, Greyson Siebenhar, and Miles Siebenhar; brothers, Jerry (Sue) Ritchie of Mooresville, NC, and Dennis (Rebecca) Ritchie of Matthews, NC; and sister-in-law, Jan (Jerry) Rodgers of Denver, NC.
