Leona Grooms Walls, 86 of Hickory, passed away October 07, 2019.

A Memorial Service will be held today at 2 p.m. at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Newton.  Burial will be held privately in Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory. The family will receive friends today from 1-1:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

James Albert Owenby, 67, of Conover passed away October 3, 2019.

A memorial service to celebrate James’s life will be held on today at 7 p.m. at New Testament Church, in Hildebrand, NC 28637.

Rodney Dale Brown 65 of Hickory passed away October 4, 2019.

 A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. October 13, 2019 at First Methodist Church in Hickory. The family will receive friends from 1 - 2 p.m. prior to the service.

Beatrice McGinnis Crotts Sisk

Beatrice McGinnis Crotts Sisk, 94, passed away October 7, 2019.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. October 11, 2019 at Carpenter's Funeral and Cremation Services. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 prior to her service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ann Baxter Stanley

Mrs. Ann Baxter Stanley, of Guy Heavner Road, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at Atrium Health - Lincoln.

Ann was born in Lincoln County on July 11, 1951 a daughter of Mabel Tedder Baxter of Cherryville and the late Thomas Baxter, Sr.  She was a member of Bess Chapel United Methodist Church in Cherryville.  Ann was retired as a security guard at Gaston College - Lincoln Campus.  She enjoyed cooking and working with flowers.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Stanley, Sr.; a sister, Linda Baxter and a nephew Tommy Baxter, III.

Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her two sons, Steven Baxter and wife Johnna of Vale; Larry Stanley, II of Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Seth Baxter, Tyler Stanley and Jenna Baxter a brother, Tommy Baxter, Jr. (Karen); a sister, Kathy Baxter all of Cherryville; niece, Malinda Smith and family; children of her late nephew Tommy Baxter, III; niece, Melissa Avery and family; a brother-in-law Jimmy Baxter (Denise) and family; special cousin, Tina Tuten (Bill); also surviving are a number of other family members.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00PM at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00AM on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Butch Ross and Dr. Vince Hefner officiating.

Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton.

 Ronald Lynn May

Ronald Lynn May, 77, of Maiden passed away on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Carolina Caring in Sherrills Ford.

 He was born July 19, 1942 in Elk County, KS to the late Norman John May and Melba Hope Lyster May. Lynn was former owner/operator of Central Asphalt Paving Inc. in Maiden, NC. Lynn was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Sherrills Ford, and attended Methodist Men at Mt. Pleasant.  He enjoyed cooking, gardening, woodworking and visiting with friends and neighbors.

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Karlton Mac May and Johnny Ray May.

 Those left to cherish his memory are; Wife of 46 years: Kathryn (Kathy) Sue May of the home, Sons: Brian C. May and wife Courtney of Richmond, VA, Bradley L. May and wife Hillary of Denver, Brother: Tony L. May of Aurora, CO, Sister: Norma Jane May of Wichita, KS, Grandchildren: Hensley L. May and Grayson C. May, Canine Companion: Lily 

 A memorial service to celebrate Lynn’s life will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Sherrills Ford. Rev. Mark Muckler will officiate. A reception will follow in the Christian Life Center.

 Margaret Virginia Stamey Mosteller

Margaret Virginia Stamey Mosteller, age 94, of Lincolnton, NC passed away October 5, 2019 at Peak Resources, Cherryville, NC.  She was born March 12, 1925 in Lincoln County to the late Julius Carl and Josephine (Jocie) Lavinia Duncan Stamey.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Odes K. Mosteller; two sons, David Mosteller, and Gary Mosteller, four sisters and three brothers. 

Mrs. Mosteller is survived by one son, Kenneth Mosteller of Lincolnton, NC, three granddaughters, Christina Mosteller Weaver of Maiden, NC, Amanda Mosteller of Gastonia, and Natalie Mosteller of Lincolnton, NC; one great grandson, L. J. Beam, and one great granddaughter, Sophie Beam.

The family will hold a graveside service on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 3:00pm at Hollybrook Cemetery, Lincolnton, NC with the Rev. Jon Mann offciating.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Long Shoals Wesleyan Church, 3032 Wesleyan Church Rd., Lincolnton, NC 28092 or to a charity of ones choice.
