Two Lincoln County men died in a crash Sunday morning. At approximately 3:30 a.m., North Carolina State Highway Patrol Trooper Chris Cline responded to a fatal crash on North Carolina Highway 182 near Sorrells Baxter Road. A 2014 Ford Mustang was traveling south on Highway 182 when it ran off the road to the right, struck a fence, overturned and struck a utility pole.

The driver of the vehicle, Caleb Andrew Clark, 22, of Vale, was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene. A front passenger, Hugh Matthews Hester Jr., 23, of Lincolnton was also pronounced dead at the scene. A white, 20-year-old female passenger from Kings Mountain was traveling in the rear seat and received minor injuries. She was transported to Atrium Health Cleveland, according to Cline.

Speeding and alcohol use are suspected as contributing factors, Cline said.

The crash is under investigation.
