LINCOLN COUNTY – It was a successful election for Lincoln County Republicans who took all available seats on both the Lincoln County School Board and the Lincolnton City Council. Only 54.52% of registered voters turned up at the polls.

For the school board, Republican Tony Jenkins beat Democrat Keith Poston winning 73.45% of the votes to Poston’s 26.55%. Democrat Linda Wolfe was defeated by Republican Fred Jarrett, 73.08% to 26.92%.

The Lincolnton City Council raise was a bit more competitive. Except for Mayor Ed Hatley who ran uncontested, all members of the Lincolnton City Council will be republican. Kevin Demeny beat Democrat Mary Frances White, 58.86% to 41.07% and Jill Tipton unseated Democrat Martin Eaddy 58.86% to 41.07%.

For the two seats on the Lincoln Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor, Leonard Keever and Sean Nesbit received the win. Danny Hester will remain the Lincoln County Register of Deeds, Fred Hatley the Lincoln County Clerk of Superior Court.
