Straw or shavings are spread, chair cushions are aired out, refrigerators are stocked and porch fans are whirling. The Rock Springs Camp Meeting 2019 begins little week” on Monday with services held under the arbor every evening until the last day, which is Aug. 11. Big Week” kicks off on Saturday with Childrens Fun Day, Kids Power Pedal Pull and Reved Up 4-Kids Car and Truck show at 10 a.m. This family-friendly fun day and open to the public with all events for children being free. The Big Sing is also on Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. featuring Ernie Haase & Signature Sound and Bruce Hedrick Family. This is also a free event and the public is welcome to attend.

West Lincoln High School wrestling coach Butch Ross has been a long-time attendee and trustee of Rock Springs. Hes been spending time at the campground for the past week helping to get it ready.

“I’ve been coming pretty much all my life,” Ross said. My great grandpa was a Beatty from down here and he come every year of his life from 1865. He moved when he was a younger man to the western end of the county and still came back every year and kept his tent.

The campgrounds at Rock Springs are kept beautified by the families who own tents. Many of the trees around the arbor are adopted” by a family and decorated each camp meeting.
