Cameron Alanna Young and Michael Jeffrey Hurst were united in marriage on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 4:00 in the afternoon at the historic St. Lukes Chapel in Charleston, S.C.  The ceremony was officiated by Reverend Judy Hames.

The bride is the daughter of Jeff and Regina Young of Vale.  She is the granddaughter of the late Robert and Alda Hoover.  Cameron is a 2004 graduate of West Lincoln High School.  She received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.  She is currently pursuing her MBA at the Citadel and is employed at Blackbaud as a project manager in Charleston, S.C.

The groom is the son of Robert and Cindy Hurst of Denmark, S.C.  Michael is a 2001 graduate of Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School.  He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Elon University and was a member of Sigma Pi fraternity. Michael is currently employed at Gallagher Benefit Services as a client relationship manager in Charleston, S.C.

The bride was escorted by her father, Jeff Young.  LeeAnna Young Chapman of Raleigh was matron of honor.  Bridesmaids were Allison Sigmon and Elizabeth Fields of Charlotte, Erica Johnson of Raleigh and Melissa Nelson of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. Callie Abernathy cousin of the bride was the flower girl. Honorary bridesmaids included Abby Bess and Awena Hurst.

Duncan Williams of Atlanta, Ga. served as the best man. Groomsmen were the groom’s brothers, Russell and Daniel Hurst of Denmark, S.C., Andy Stroud of Huntersville and Kyle Hendrix of Plano, Tex. Honorary groomsman was Rob Hurst, nephew of the groom.

The greeters were Eliza Stanley and Logan Tuck, cousins of the groom.  Music for the ceremony was provided by Kathy and Whitney Rhoad and Larry Watt.

The reception followed with dinner and dancing at the Francis Marion Hotel in the Carolina Ballroom.  The venue was decorated with a peacock theme featuring floral arrangements with peacock feathers, roses, hydrangeas and orchids. The guest received handcrafted pottery favors made by the father of the bride and featured medallions made by the groom’s father.

The groom’s parents hosted a food truck themed rehearsal dinner for all of the guests on the eve of the wedding at Edisto Hall.  Prior to the wedding an engagement party was given in honor of the couple at the Denmark Country Club by friends of the groom. A barn shower dinner was given by Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Chapman.  A dinner and dancing event was hosted by friends and family of the groom’s parents. A luncheon was hosted by Awena Hurst, sister-in-law of the groom.

The bride was honored with a lingerie shower by friends of the bride.  A bridesmaid luncheon was given by the Mother of the bride.

Following a honeymoon to St. Lucia, the couple resides in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
