Golden Anniversary

William Robert and Joan Briley Elmore celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends at Lincoln Country Club in Lincolnton on August 22, 2015. They have three children, Rob (Stephanie), Chris (Adella), Jill (Michael) and five grandchildren. Bill was raised in Charleston, S.C. and Joan in Greenville. They met while attending East Carolina University. Bill and Joan were married on August 22, 1965 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Greenville. They honeymooned at Carolina Beach. Bill has a career as Psychologist and college professor. Joan is a retired special educator. They raised their family in Boone. Bill and Joan actively support young people of the world through several international children’s organizations and prison ministries. Bill is an avid runner and cyclist, participating in bike rides across Ga. and NC with his son-in-law and grandson. Joan serves on her church council, is active in her women’s prayer group and retired teachers organization, and, on occasion, enjoys ziplining with her grandchildren.
