Gene and Janice Sherrill of Lincolnton celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their family. They were married July 5, 1953 at Asbury United Methodist Church. Gene served in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from Yellow Freight. Janice retired from Bank of America. Their children are Cathy and husband Cordell Scott of Lincolnton, Teri Abernethy of Lincolnton, Michael and wife Melinda Sherrill of Lincolnton. Grandchildren are Jessica and husband Ritchie Black, Bo Abernethy, Lindsey Lawing, Mikey Sherrill, Melia McCullen, Christopher Dillon, and Christine Jenkins. Great-grandchildren are Kale and Marley Black and Arian and Luther Proctor.
