The Midwest 2A Conference announced their All-Conference teams for the Fall.
In cross country, Dennis Gilfillan from Bunker Hill garnered Runner of the Year honors, while Jeff Cloninger was awarded the Coach of the Year award.
Bandys had Walter Blalock, Daniel Brown and Curtis Edwards make the team.
Bunker Hill had Lamar Stewart and Corey Walker.
East Rutherford had Richie Jones, Reven Moeslinger and Matt Wellman to make the squad.
Representing Lincoln County was Lincolnton with five runners making All-Conference. Felipe Arce, Andrew Mauney, Mike Mauney, Luis Soto and Jared Webb garnered selections.
On the women’s side in cross country, Perry Price was selected as Coach of the Year. Brittany Beeker was named the Runner of the Year for the conference.
Kristine Leatherman and Kelly Pittman join Beeker on the team.
Shelby had Baird Blackley, Celeste Hurtig, Anna Winstead and Sarah Winstead.
Chase’s Amy Murray and Dianne Szpak both made the team.
Lauren Eaker, Savannah Huffman and Meghan Moretz represented Bandys.
Lincolnton’s Beri Huitt and Brittney Shook were also named to the team.
Chris Norman, from Shelby, was named the Coach of the Year. Zach Elliot garnered Offensive Player of the Year honors. While teammate Matt Woodlief was named the Defensive Player of the
Year.
State runner up Bandys had nine players named to the All-Conference team: Zach Elliot, Kyle Helderman, Matt Woodlief, Johnny Spake, Chris Spade, Bradley Richards, Tin Wensil, Bradley
Sherrill and Wayne Styer.
Aaron Palmer, Chaz Jackson and Curtis Jackson highlighted East Rutherford’s seven selections.
Chase’s Fred Camp and Anthony Wingo highlighted their five selections.
Shelby had nine players named to the team highlighted by Tavarris Jolley, Van Eskridge and Keith Brooks.
Bunker Hill’s Martin Turbeville, J.P. Killian and Demarius Miller highlighted their four selections.
Newton Conover’s Matt Wilson, Clay Lutz and Damon James were named to the squad.
West Lincoln’s Will Tallent, Daniel Soto, Antonio Rojo and Paul Chambers all garnered Midwest 2A selections.
Lincolnton had seven selections on the team: Eric Wilson, Darren Wilson, Bradley Dalrymple, Mauricio Sing, Matt Murray, Pedro Fonseca and Brian Ebert.
In soccer David Steeves was named Coach of the Year. Co-Players of the Year were Shelby’s Reid Chamberlain and Newton-Conover’s Addison Hodge.
Bandy’s Andrew Conner and Jimmy Seechang made the team.
East Rutherford’s Blake Bostic, Collin Eaker, Jason Hudson and Pat Morgan made the squad.
Lincolnton’s Adrian Andrade, Martin Isoler, Abraham Jimenez and Luis Soto were selected all-conference.
West Lincoln’s Brandon Jones and Diego Troja garnered selections.
Newton, who along with Shelby led the team in selections, had Paul Guillotte, Jonathan Michael, Colin Ray, Conner Suave and Brett Whitaker.
Representing Shelby was Clay Champion, William Mabry, Jamie Robinson, Doug Spada and Will Shull.
In women’s tennis, Mike Stair, of Newton-Conover, was named the Coach of the Year. Player of the Year honors went to Carrie Freeman of West Lincoln.
Bunker Hill’s Veronica Creed, Kimberly Yount and Tiffany Purkey made the team.
East Rutherford’s Lillian Smothers, Sarah Horne and Rebecca Warner were selected.
Lincolnton, who led the team with selections, had Shawn Kindley, Jessica Newton, Liz Rhine and Anna Carpenter make the squad.
Newton-Conover had Nicole Lampe and Amanda Hunsucker receive selections. Shelby was represented by Anna Rucker.
West Lincoln was led Carrie Freeman and Brittany Godfrey who made the team.
In women’s volleyball, Tonia Ballard, of East Rutherford, was named Coach of the Year. While East Rutherford’s Chanity Watkins took home Player of the Year honors.
Bandy’s was represented by Allison Brown and Courtney Lail.
Bunker Hill’s Erika Little, Sarah Killian and Katherine Layne garnered selections.
Chase had Ann Burgess, Tasia Lowrance and Angela Bingham make the squad.
East Rutherford, who along with Chase and Bunker Hill led with selections, had Chanity Watkins, Keri Sparrow and Alex Park make all-conference.
Lindsay Sain represented Lincolnton, while county rival Lily Tallent represented West Lincoln.
Newton-Conover’s Julie Mikus and Shelby’s Collette King also garnered selections.
