West wrestling wins

VALE — West Lincoln wrestling team defeated East Gaston 48-28 Tuesday to give head coach Butch Ross his 150th career win.

West wins by pin came from Matt Avery Zac Elmore Brent Gates, Steele Barber, Eric Steele and Aaron Terry.

Daniel Soto and Antonio Rojo both won by forfeit

In the preliminaries, Tyler Wilfong and Heath Cole both won by decision.

West is 12-0 and will host Kings Mountain Monday.

 

West girls basketball cruise to win

MORGANTON — The West Lincoln girls basketball squad topped North Carolina School for the Deaf 64-30 Tuesday.

Stephanie Sain hit four 3-pointers to lead the team with 18 points. Lily Tallent chipped in with 14.

Brittany Watts (six points), Jessica Leatherman (6), Holly Wellman (6), Heather Peterson (4), Karla Sigmon (4), Emily Davis (4) and Sheena Simpson (2) all helped out in the scoring department for the Lady Rebels.
