West Lincoln wrestlers pin Mustangs

VALE — The West Lincoln High wrestling team defeated East 69-12 in their match on Tuesday at West Lincoln to stay undefeated.

Theses are the results in each individual match (Class, name, won by, name, time): 103 Matt Avery (WL) pinned Russell Edwards (EL) 1:25; 112 Jeremy Pearson (WL) pinned Grier Simmons (EL) :51;

At 119 Zac Elmore (WL) pinned Rolo Rodriguez (EL) :24; 125 Zeb Elmore (WL) pinned Joe Hanks (EL) :58; 130 Brent Gates (WL) pinned Joey Davis (EL) 1:20; 135 Josh Hullette (WL) pinned Aaron Melton (EL) 1:09; 140 Steele Barber (WL) had a technical fall against Brian Funk (EL) 19-2.

At 145 Eric Steele (WL) won by major decision against Chris Smith (EL) 11-1; 152 Dustin Hester (WL) pinned Jacob Smith (EL) :29; 160 Brandon Swengras (EL) pinned Will Bess (WL) 1:00.

At 171 Daniel Soto (WL) pinned Donald Smith (EL) 1:19; 189 Jacob McCarty (EL) pinned CJ Deputy (WL) :46; 215 Antonio Rojo (WL) pinned Travis Canipe (EL) :45; and 275 Aaron Terry (WL) pinned Garrett Dellinger (EL) :53.

The next match will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the St. Stephens Indian Classic, and at home Tuesday against East Gaston at 7 p.m. 

 

Lincolnton JV girls beat South Point

BELMONT — The LHS Lady Wolves got a win in their first outing of the season in a 30-28 victory over South Point.

Danielle Sadler’s eight points led the way for the Lady Wolves. Shonda Faw (7 points), Elizabeth Stepp (5), Lauren Sain (4), Shley Tipton (4) and Tyler Harrell (2) all contributed.

LHS will hosts West Lincoln on Friday.
