Two Lincoln County teams represented their schools in their respective conference tournaments and two teams lost.

The East Lincoln Lady Mustangs, who posted a perfect 14-0 conference record, advanced to the Big South 3A Conference Finals after defeating Ashbrook 25-8, 25-23, 25-8.

Jessica Towery led the Lady Mustangs serving up 10 aces with nine kills. Brooke Michael had 23 assists and seven aces. Stephanie Horne contributed with six aces and six digs.

In the finals the top-seeded Lady Mustangs met the No. 2 seed Forestview Lady Jaguars.

Although the Lady Mustangs put up a formidable fight their effort came up short losing 20-25, 16-25, 18-25.

The victory gave the Lady Jaguars the Big South Volleyball 3A Conference Championship.

Two standouts for the Lady Mustangs were Michael who posted 20 assists and Towery who crushed 13 kills and had two blocks.

The other county team to lose their conference championship was Lincolnton.

The Lady Wolves advanced to the Midwest 2A Conference Championship against the Bandys Lady Trojans after defeating Bunker Hill and then Chase in the semi-finals.

Lincolnton won the first game of the match 25-23, but then lost three straight 24-26, 13-25 and 23-25 to give the Lady Trojans the conference crown.

Stars for Lincolnton were Sarah Montgomery who had five points and 41 assists, Santana Edwards with 11 points and 24 assists and Elizabeth Stepp with eight points and two kills. Jessie Cline chipped in with six points and two aces for the Lady Wolves.

In the Big South 3A State Tournament East Lincoln will be the No. 1 seed and tentatively scheduled to play Oct. 21st at home.
