Lauren Mosteller and Aaron Terry emerged as the most honored athletes at Sunday’s 2002-2003 West Lincoln High School Sports Banquet.
After picking up most outstanding awards in two sports, the seniors capped their big day by winning the school’s male and female athlete of the year awards. Athletics director Wayne
Navey announced the school’s most prestigious individual honors at the close of a banquet that recognized achievement for the entire sports year.
Mosteller, who participated in volleyball, cheerleading and softball, warmed up for the final award by claiming MVP honors in softball and varsity basketball cheerleading.
Terry, who distinguished himself in football and wrestling, was the MVP in wrestling and the most outstanding defensive player in football. In wrestling, Terry joined West Lincoln’s
elite 100 career win club in the finals of the Midwest 2A Conference tournament. In football, the senior led the team in total tackles with 96 as a down lineman.
Several other athletes took home multiple awards, most notably Lily Tallent, the only three-sport MVP (volleyball, basketball and track); and Nic Baxter, MVP in cross-country and track
and winner of the Kemp Wehunt Memorial Award.
The banquet format marked a departure from previous years, in which the school held banquets for each sports season (fall, winter and spring).
