DENVER — The Mustangs did it again Thursday night.

The undefeated regular season champs came up with a Big South 3A Conference softball tournament championship win, downing Ashbrook 4-2.

“It gives us come confidence and momentum going into next week,” said Mustangs coach Scott Spohler.

As No. 1 seed for BS3A state playoffs, East will play at home next week in the first round of state playoffs. That game is expected to be at 5 p.m., Friday, May 23. Their opponent is not yet known.

The Mustang’s were also last year’s conference champs.

Ashbrook was the runner up in regular season and tournament play. The team is the No. 2 seed for BS3A state playoffs.

During the league’s two-year history, East’s 26-2 record has been only marred by losses to Ashbrook and Forestview during last year’s regular season.
