East Lincoln earns first round victory in tourney

East Lincoln defeated Forestview in baseball on Monday 8-0.

East was held in check through the first three innings only getting one hit. That all changed though with a seven run explosion in the fourth.

The seven runs came by way of seven hits. In the inning, Michael Duggan had a two RBI double. Michael Rue helped out his own cause with a two run triple.

The big hit in the fourth came from Josh Hamby — Hamby knocked his first ball out of the ballpark on the season with a two run homer.

Michael Rue pitched the whole game and rang up 10 strikeouts while only surrendering three hits.

Rue also was the leading hitter for the Mustangs going 2-3 at the plate.

Post 100 going for win No. 1000

With eight of the first 12 games at home, Post 100 hopes to get a jump on the rest of the Area Four field.

Bobby Reynolds, who played on three state championship clubs at Cherryville, starts his 11th campaign as Post 100 manager on Friday May 23 at Taylorsville. The home opener is the following night against Area Three’s Kannapolis.

Reynolds is 202-119 for 10 years’ work for Post 100 and overall, he’s 323-179.

Post 100, which fielded their first legion team in 1937, is 999-666 over 62 years of baseball so their first win on the year will give them No. 1000.

They will also have a “B” team coached by Rusty Haynes.

Former West Lincoln High and Post 100 standout Jeff Henley will again aid Reynolds with the coaching duties.

LHS tennis eliminated from dual team playoffs

LHS was eliminated from the dual team playoffs 6-0 by Brevard.

The match was closer than the score may indicate as the Wolves played well in most matches. However, they just didn’t have much to show for their solid play.

Joseph Allender, No. 4, and Lee Campbell, No. 6, lost close matches as they split sets, but couldn’t win the tiebreaks.
