March 5, 2003 - VALE — The East Lincoln team bus was late to Tuesday’s game at West Lincoln
because of a dead battery.
But a new battery was put in and the bus cranked up and made the trip.
The East Lincoln lineup was also dead early. In the first ten at bats, no one had a hit.

varsity baseball team got off to a shaky start in the 2003 season against the Fred T. Foard Tigers Monday
West gave up three runs in the first inning, and couldn’t recover, losing the game 6-2.

March 5, 2003 - The visiting Maiden Blue Devils used a five-run second inning Tuesday to defeat the Lincolnton
Wolves 9-5.
After the Wolves put up three runs in the bottom half of the first to take a 3-1 lead, the Blue Devils scored five times in the second and two more in the
third to take a commanding 8-3 advantage.

Stull signs with Brevard

March 7, 2003 - East Lincoln volleyball standout Clarissa Stull signed a letter of intent to attend and play volleyball at Brevard
college.
Stull selected Brevard over other colleges because of its small campus, volleyball program and art school. Brevard head coach Brenda Skeffington said she sees Stull as an "asset to the front row. She's a middle hitter and a strong blocker. She'll fit in well (at Brevard)." Brevard is a college of 750 students that competes in NAIA Appalachian Athletic Conference. East Lincoln softball pitcher Carina Vinzant, who in her first start of the season, pitched a 10-0 five-inning perfect game no-hitter against Bandys Wednesday.
Vinzant faced the minimum 15 batters. She had five strike outs and no walks.

March 14, 2003 - LINCOLNTON — The Lincolnton boys tennis team lost to Mooresville 6-3 Wednesday.
For LHS, singles wins came from Joseph and Andrew Allender.
The only doubles win came from the team of Jimmy Thackston and Joseph Allender.
Coach Chris Hoffman said his team was much more competitive against the Blue Devils Wednesday than at their last match.
“We gave Mooresville a much better match today,” he said “Almost everyone gave their opponents a good match in both our singles and doubles line-ups.
“We had a couple of close matches (No. 2 singles and No. 3 doubles) that could have changed the outcome,” he said.

March 24, 2003 - GASTONIA — East Lincoln pitchers walked seven and hit three batters to help Ashbrook beat the Mustangs 13-0 Saturday.
Green Wave’s Wes McCall pitched a two-hitter in the game.
The only Mustangs with hits were Josh Hamby and Greyson Shram.
East will host Forestview at 4:30 this afternoon. The game was rained out last week. The Mustangs will travel to Cherryville Tuesday at 6 p.m.
