Ruark recently accepted the head position at Charlotte’s Myers Park High School.

March 5, 2003 - VALE — The East Lincoln team bus was late to Tuesday’s game at West Lincoln
because of a dead battery.
But a new battery was put in and the bus cranked up and made the trip.
The East Lincoln lineup was also dead early. In the first ten at bats, no one had a hit.

March 5, 2003 - The Duke Blue Devil Basketball team won the East Lincoln Op-timist 9-10 year old boys league championship. The team went
9-1.

March 5, 2003 - VALE — After losing eight senior starters from last years team, the West Lincoln Rebels
varsity baseball team got off to a shaky start in the 2003 season against the Fred T. Foard Tigers Monday
West gave up three runs in the first inning, and couldn’t recover, losing the game 6-2.

LHS baseball falls but tennis team gets pay back

March 5, 2003 - The visiting Maiden Blue Devils used a five-run second inning Tuesday to defeat the Lincolnton
Wolves 9-5.
After the Wolves put up three runs in the bottom half of the first to take a 3-1 lead, the Blue Devils scored five times in the second and two more in the
third to take a commanding 8-3 advantage.

March 7, 2003 - VALE — Last year’s West Lincoln baseball team contended for the conference
crown and went into the third round of the state playoffs.
Jay Heafner, Chris Halubka, Josh Carpenter, David Wise, Matt Craig, Dustin Gee, Brandon Mosteller, Mitch Warlick, Justin Pearson and others are all
gone.

March 7, 2003 - East Lincoln's Krystle Kresge tries to get by a Burns defender in their game at East Lincoln Wednesday. East won 6-2.

Stull signs with Brevard

March 7, 2003 - East Lincoln volleyball standout Clarissa Stull signed a letter of intent to attend and play volleyball at Brevard
college.
Stull selected Brevard over other colleges because of its small campus, volleyball program and art school. Brevard head coach Brenda Skeffington said she sees Stull as an "asset to the front row. She's a middle hitter and a strong blocker. She'll fit in well (at Brevard)." Brevard is a college of 750 students that competes in NAIA Appalachian Athletic Conference. March 7, 2003 - LINCOLNTON — The South Point pitching staff led by starter Joe Springs held Lincolnton
hitters to only five hits in an 8-2 loss on Wednesday.
The Red Raiders scored four times in the top of the fourth inning to take a 5-0 lead, and that would be plenty for Springs and the South Point bullpen.

first win.
But the Ironmen denied the Rebels 6-2.
After a sloppy first inning by the Ironmen, who committed three errors, the Rebels took a 2-0 lead.

another win, South Caldwell exploded for seven runs in the sixth to win the game 11-6 Monday.
South Caldwell put together an inning you just don’t see everyday in high school softball.

VALE — The West Lincoln Rebels Tennis team faced East Gaston Tuesday afternoon, hoping to boost its record to 3-1.
The Rebels barely managed to squeak out a victory, winning five matches to four.
