East outslugs Cherryville

East Lincoln baseball team scored 13 runs in the first three innings to beat Cherryville 13-11 Monday.

Tyler Burleson got the win for the Mustangs while Ironmen’s Steven Justice took the loss.

East’s David Rue had a big day at the plate. He went 4-for-4 and had a two-run homer and four RBI. His brother, Michael,  lashed out three hits. Thomas Abernathy and Matthew McIntosh each got a pair of hits.

Cherryville’s Josh McSwain produced three hits while Ben Castra  had two. Kenneth Harris had a solo homer in the game.

East Lincoln is now 2-5 and will play at Hunter Huss today and host East Gaston Thursday.

 

Lady Wolves softball loses to Chase

Lincolnton lost its first game of the season at Chase Tuesday 4-3.

LHS Starter Lynsey Cooper surrendered six hits and two earned runs in the loss. She struck out two.

Lauren Bartholomew had two hits and had two RBI in the game. Keisha Duncan slapped a triple while Cooper, Santana Edwards Ashlea Farley all had singles.

LHS will travel to Ashbrook today and Bandys Thursday.
