Foard edges LHS tennis

The Lincolnton boys tennis team lost a tough 5-4 home match to Fred T. Foard Thursday.

LHS won four singles matches but lost three doubles. In the doubles, Foard won two of the them, 9-7 and 8-6.

The Wolves’ singles winners were John James, Joseph Allender, Jimmy Thackston, and Devin High.

 

LHS, East Lincoln fall to Shelby in golf

SHELBY — Shelby shot a 154 as a team to edge Lincolnton (158), East Lincoln (162) and South Iredell (166) recently.

Ben Gonforth won the nine-hole event with a 34 for Shelby.

Lincolnton had three top ten finishers (Lance High (37, third), Mac Bell (39, sixth) and Matt Eagle (40, seventh).

East Lincoln’s Robbie Howard was second with 36. Teammate Blake Ketner came in ninth with a 41.

 

ELMS golf wins

The East Lincoln Middle School golf team played its first match and won recently

The Falcons shot 149 to top rival Pumpkin Center (181), Burns (168), East Rutherford (188).

The match medalist was Patrick Rada with an individual score of 32. High scorers for ELMS were: Kenny Bethea 37, Reid Ketner 40, Alex Willhite 40, Carson King 44 and Alex Coffee 45.

Their next match will be held March 27 at Lincolnton.
