Briefs - March 18 2002 LHS TRACK RESULTS Lincolnton boys and girls hosted a track meet against conference teams, Chase, Shelby and Bunker Hill last Thursday. LHS boys won their meet while the girls came in fourth.. Junior Bailey was the key man for the Wolves. He won the 100 meter-dash, the 110M high hurdles and the long jump. While leading the 400M relay team to victory. Derrick Nixon was part of that relay. He won the triple jump and the high jump. Jared Webb won the 3,200M run and placed third in the 1,600M run. Luis Soto came in second in the 1,600M and the 800M runs. The Lady Wolves’ Stephanie Atkins had a solid performance. She helped the 3,200M relay team win and the 1,600M relay come in second. Personally she came in second in the 800M and the 1,600M runs.
LHS BOYS TENNIS Mooresville defeated the Lincolnton 8-1 Thursday. LHS’s only win came from Joseph Allender , the team’s No. 4 player. The match was like a replay of the first encounter of the two teams. LHS played better than the score reflected. The Wolves lost two singles matches in tiebreakers and lost a doubles match 8-6. LHS falls to 3-3 and will host Statesville Tuesday and Fred T. Foard Thursday.
