The reverberations of Tuesday night’s heartbreaking loss to Hunter Huss were still being felt one night later.

The Mustangs lost to visiting North Gaston 53-40 Wednesday night.

The Mustangs were paced by Grant Covington who had 16 points. Dante Roseboro chipped in with eight points, while Jamelle Lowery contributed with six points.

Aaron Tyson led all scorers with 18 points, wihle teammate Okeba Rollinson had 10 points for the Wildcats.

The Mustangs’ record drops to 5-11 on season.

The Lady Mustangs lost to Lady Wildcats 53-38 without leading scorer Sara Fleming.

Leslie Marlowe had a game-high 17 points in the losing cause. Kim Scercy had a solid game contributing with 10 points. Koree Roseboro had five points for the Mustangs.

Fleming is expected to miss two weeks with a severely sprained ankle. Head coach Henry Barkley says that should be interesting.

“Playing without Sara makes for a whole different makeup for our team. The positive side is we have a whole bunch of other players that are learning to step up,” he said.

Fleming is leading the Lady Mustangs in several statistical categories.
