West Lincoln upped their record to 7-8 overall and 2-3 in the conference Tuesday night beating visiting Bandys 74-51.
The Rebels were led by B.J. Holland who scored a season-high 22 points. Head coach Chad Wright was happy with more than just Holland’s play.
“B.J. was much more focused and active on the defensive end tonight and that always carries over to the offensive end of the floor. I’m real proud of the leadership he showed,” he said.
The Rebels also received a 16-point effort from big man Ty Curtis. Taylor Woodie, Chase Caldwell and Ryan Huffman all chipped in with eight.
Wright believed part of the reason the Rebels performed so well was the lackluster performance against East Rutherford Saturday when they lost by 17 points.
“We wanted to come out tonight and make a statement for ourselves because we felt embarrassed by our performance on Saturday against East Rutherford,” he said.
Bandys was undefeated, 2-0, in the Midwest 2A before Tuesday night’s loss. Wright said the win was hopefully a sign of things to come for his team.
“We wanted to make sure that everyone knew that we’re not going anywhere without a fight. We have set some goals as a team we plan on working towards,” he said.

The East Lincoln Mustangs lost a heartbreaker 61-59 Tuesday night against the Hunter Huss Huskies. The loss drops the Mustangs to 5-10 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
Down two points with four seconds left the Mustangs were able to get a shot, but it wasn’t true. Head coach Schenck was pleased with the execution of the play.
“We had the ball at half court and we were able to get a shot, but it just didn’t go,” he said.
Schenck felt it was his team’s defensive play that kept them close.
“We were down 10 starting the fourth quarter and we made a good run. Our defense was what got us back in the game,” he said.
Grant Covington led the Mustangs with 20 points, while Dante Roseboro contributed with 14 points. Jadarious Roseboro had a season-high nine points.
Schenck felt the Mustangs weren’t very effective with their perimeter game, but was pleased with other areas of play.
“We did not shoot the ball well from the outside. We got the ball down to Grant in the second half. The kids never gave up and played hard,” he said.

Varsity Women’s
The North Lincoln Lady Knights were tied at 18 with Hendersonville Tuesday night at the half. However, Hendersonville outscored the host team 29-24 for a 47-42 victory denying the Lady
Knights their second consecutive win.
Head coach Mark Lackey felt the main reason for the loss was his team’s inability to hit the boards.
“We did not do a good job rebounding the basketball and gave them too many second chance opportunities. On the defensive end, it led to fast break points for them,” he said.
Guard Caroline Farris and Lindsey Smith led the Lady Knights with 12 points apiece. Sara McCall contributed with 10 points in the losing cause.
Despite falling to 3-11 and 0-3 in the conference Lackey was pleased with his squad’s execution against pressure defense.
“We did the best job tonight of beating the full-court press than we’ve done all year long,” he said.

The East Lincoln Lady Mustangs fell to the Hunter Huss Lady Huskies Tuesday night. However, that might not be their biggest concern.
Down six with three minutes to go one of the worst incidents happened to head coach Henry Barkley and his East Lincoln Mustangs against the Lady Huskies. Sara Fleming who scored a
game-high 21 points sprained her ankle.
“We have to regroup because we won’t know the status of Sara until tomorrow. It’s doubtful she’ll be able to play for a week. We don’t know whether it’s going to be a short time or a
long time,” Barkley said.
Although, Fleming’s status is uncertain, one thing was not to Barkley.
“We played a heck of ball game against a real good team. We tried not to get into a running game with them and we were able to keep them from burning us and kept it a ballgame,” he said.
Coach Barkley was very pleased with his team’s intensity they brought to the game against a solid opponent.
“I’m real proud of all my players. We were down to eight players because we had two already hurt. The intensity was there, the desire was there and the wanttoism was there,” he said.
East Lincoln- Sara Fleming 21, Kim Scercy 4, Brooke Michael 2, Koree Roseboro 6, Courtney Feldon 1.
Hunter Huss- Green 2, Roseboro 6, Bell 13, Blackmon 19, Austin 4.
With Lindsey Sain still sick the Lady Wolves lost their third consecutive game Tuesday night 82-44 to the Shelby Golden Lions.
The Golden Lions jumped out to a 27-9, at the end of the first quarter, lead and never looked back. A strong defense led the effort.
“They played real good trapping defense on us. Our team is still trying to learn how to handle a trap. They did a wonderful job on us,” he said.
“I’m not giving up on the girls. They’re still learning and have gone through a lot this year. We’re going to take it as each game is a learning experience,” Johnson said.
Hannah Parker, recently moved up from JV, had a solid game with five points. Brittany Jones and Andrea Smith led the Lady Wolves with nine points.
