West teams enjoy weekend with wins

Jan. 28, 2002 - FOREST CITY — The West Lincoln varsity basketball teams Traveled to Chase Friday and came back with a pair of wins.

Jeremy Parker drained the nets for 19 point to lead the Rebels to a 81-57 whipping of Chase.

West got ahead quick (42-30 at halftime) and simply put it in cruise control the rest of the way.

Daniel Ward added 14 while Lathan Fowler chipped in with 11.

Lady Rebels win 67-53

Kisha Morrison poured in a game-high 20 points while Stephanie Sain and Lily Tallent combined for another 20 as the West Lincoln girls rolled to a conference road win.

West JV girls win 24-19

Heather Lanier and Karla Sigmon each had six to lead the Lady JV Rebels (12-2) to a victory over Chase.

Also scoring for West were Jessica Grigg (four points), Brittany Watts (two), Tamika Werts (two), Sarah Peeler (two), Ashley Griffin (one) and Lacey Parker (one).

West wrestlers win dual meet

The West Lincoln High School wrestling team defeated Chase, 59-12, and Mooresville, 33-27, on Friday.

In the game against Chase, West winners were 103-pound weight-class wrestler Jeremy Pearson by pin, 112 Daniel Scronce with a 12-8 dec., 125 Josh Hullette by pin, 130 Chris Godfrey by pin, 135 Brent Gates with a 14-9 dec., 140 Cory Norman by T-Fall, 16-1, 145 Eric Steele by pin; 152 Daniel Soto with a 9-5 dec., 160 CJ Deputy by pin, 189 Jacob Stephens with a 9-3 dec., 215 Antonio Rojo by pin, 275 Aaron Terry by pin.

In the game against Mooresville, the West winners were 103 Jeremy Pearson with a 9-3 dec., 112 Daniel Scronce by forfeit, 119 Steele Barber with a 4-0 dec., 125 Josh Hullette with a 13-7 dec., 130 Chris Godfrey by pin, 135 Cory Norman with a 13-8 dec., 145 Eric Steele with a 10-5 dec., 275 Aaron Terry with a pin.

Their season record is now 23-7, 4-1 at conference. The next match will be held at West against Lincolnton on Wednesday.
