ELMS girls defeat LMS

The Lady Wildcats fall to East Lincoln 21-17 Tuesday.

Leading scorers for Lincolnton were Brittany Jones 9, Charlotte Clark 6, and Ashley Broadway 2.

Leading scorers for East Lincoln were Moore 12, Webb 4, Glenn 2, Feldon 2, McCorkler 1.

The next game for the Lady Wildcats will be Thursday at R.S.

 

WL JV girls win in OT

The West Lincoln High School J.V. girls team defeated Bunk Hill, 55-47, in double overtime.

West Lincoln and Bunker Hill both played great games with West Lincoln coming back from a ten-point deficit. West and Bunker Hill were tied at six at the end of the first quarter, then the Lady Bears went ahead when, at the half 22-14. West rallied back to tie it to send it into overtime.

Teamwork was a key factor in the victory. Leading scorers for West were Heather Lanier 15, Brittany Watts 14, Jessica Grigg 10, Emily Davis 6, Karla Sigmon 6, and Tamika Werts 4. 

 

Softball tournaments held Saturday and next weekend

For Softball teams interested in competing, there will be two tournaments held in the coming weeks.

The first is Fuzzy’s Early Bird Tournament held Saturday, at the County Park in Dallas. Registration fee is $130. Contact Fuzzy Green at 704-822-9325 for more information.

The second tournament will be Mick’s Invitational on Feb. 2 at the County Park in Dallas. Registration fee is also $130. For more information call Mick Chandler at 704-867-0876.

 

Lacrosse team looking for high school-aged players

High school age boys in the east Lincoln area interested in playing on a lacrosse team this spring should contact Gene Thompson at 704-483-3601.

 

Lake Norman Wildcats AAU baseball team

The Lake Norman Wildcats 11 and under baseball team is looking for players interested in playing AAU.

Rec Department to hold racquet ball tournament

The Lincolnton/Lincoln County recreation department is sponsoring a racquetball tournament beginning Monday at the Lentz Recreation Center.

Men’s and Women’s singles and doubles matches will be held. There will be three divisions: advanced, intermediate, and beginner for each category.

Cost is $10 per player.

Hickory YMCA sports registration

Hickory Foundation YMCA announces spring sports registration schedule

The Hickory Foundation YMCA, located at 701 1st St, NW, in Hickory, announces registration dates for the following youth spring sports.

Youth soccer: Monday, January 14 – Wednesday, February 13

Girls’ Volleyball: Monday, January 13 – Wednesday, March 6

Youth Baseball: Monday, March 4 – Friday, April 5

Fees for ages 3-4 are $35 for members and $50 for participants. Fees for all other ages are $40 for members and $60 for participants.

Registration for Adult Volleyball will be held Monday, March 4 – Monday, April 1. Fee is $250 per team.

Ten Star Basketball Camp

Applications are now being evaluated for the Ten Star All Star Summer Basketball Camp. The camp is by invitation only. Boy and girls, ages 10-19 are eligible to apply. Denver Dazzle looking for softball players

The 14 and under Denver Dazzle Gold Softball Team is currently recruiting for the 2002 season. All positions are available.

Metrodome Invitational Tournament

The National Amateur Baseball Association is currently looking for high school and/or Baseball players ages 13-15, 16-18, and 20 and under, that would like to be a part of our 2002 National Invitational Wooden Bat Showcase Tournament to be held in the Hubert H. Bryan Adrian Spring Basketball League

Registration is now open for the 18th Bryan Adrian Spring Basketball League and the 24th Summer Basketball Camp.

The Spring League Registration is held through April 15. Locations include East Mecklenburg High School, and South Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte.

Boys and girls ages 5-18 are eligible. Included on the Camp Staff are Kris Lang of UNC and Jobey Thomas UNCC.

The Summer Basketball Camp is held at St. Ann’s Catholic School in Charlotte. The date is July 15-19. Boys and girls ages 5-18 are eligible.
