CHARLOTTE — Shoppers and sellers take an annual trek each year. Their travels lead to one destination — The Southern Christmas Show.

The event kicked off Thursday at the Charlotte Merchandise Mart. Exhibitors from Lincoln County came out in force to show and sell holiday decorations and gifts.

Holly Steele of Vale personalized her glitter cone ornaments while her husband, Fred, answered questions from shoppers. Holly Steele is the owner of Holly’s Glitter Cones. She and her husband sell their hand-crafted ornaments each year at the event.

“It always goes well,” she says. “It’s a wonderful show.”

Other Lincoln County vendors include Darell Fulbright with Ful O’ Bright Ideas and Diana and Gary Gaines with Splinters & Rags.

Live and recorded holiday music plays while exhibitors hand out free samples and discuss techniques of their creations.

Santa sits in his sleigh awaiting Christmas lists while candy canes, cookies and candies are prepared for purchase.

Shoppers will have several days to take in what the show has to offer.

The Southern Christmas Show is open now through Sunday, Nov. 23.

Hours are from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Tickets for adults are $8 at the door and $7 in advance (discount tickets are available at Harris Teeter). Tickets for youth 6-12 are $3.

For more information call 704-376-6594 or www.southernchristmasshow.com.
