Senior citizens take to the cat walk

October 2, 2002 - Seniors strutted their stuff on the cat walk last week at The Brian Center.

Bon-Worth Factory Outlet hosted a fashion show in the retirement home’s main dining room Thursday — featuring store personnel, shoppers, and Brian Center staff and residents as models.

Play depicts the silly side of the South

October 11, 2002 - Funeral and financial ruin somehow evolve into comedy in David Bottrell and Jessie Jones’ “Dearly Departed.”

Actors with the Cherryville Little Theatre will bring the story of the dysfunctional Turpin family to the stage next week.

Even a loving embrace turns into a comical conquest during Cherryville Little Theatre's production of "Dearly Departed." Characters have trouble concentrating on the funeral at hand when Anette Goforth and J. Michael Medlin tumble to the ground. Lincoln native releases tribute recording

October 11, 2002 - Nationally-known soloist and Lincolnton native Carolyn Heafner pays tribute to Emily Dickinson in her new CD “The Poetess Sings — A Tribute To Emily Dickinson.”

The recording features both solos and monologues and is now on sale in the gift shop at the Lincoln Cultural Center.

‘Quilters’ tells women’s powerful story

October 14, 2002 - The diary entries of courageous pioneer women will come to life this week at the Lincoln Cultural Center.

The Lincoln Theatre Guild’s production of “Quilters” will tell the tales of American history — through song and speech.

The ensemble cast of "Quilters" portrays men, women and children as they make the historic move out west. (Right) Sheena Forbes, seated, sings about meeting her future husband, a hand-some cowboy, portrayed by Mary Ann Burton. (Below) The women work together on a friendship quilt, each singing of their lasting relationships. WLMS students cut teacher’s ‘locks of love’

October 23, 2002 - The media center at West Lincoln Middle School was transformed into a beauty salon earlier this month.

Students in Mrs. Shaffer’s 6-8th-grade classes gathered for the special event..

Students at West Lincoln Middle School assisted beautician Lee Ann Hull in cutting Mrs. Shaffer's hair this month. Her hair was then donated to Locks of Love.  (Photo courtesy of West Lincoln Middle School)
