Children learn the visual arts
By Staff reports
The Lincoln Arts Council’s School of Visual Arts is in full session.
Instructors are teaching children — preschool through high school — the skill of creating art in various mediums.
“They learn a variety of things — drawing, painting, ceramics, oils, acrylic, and they do some pottery too,” said Mary Jane Howard, executive director of the Lincoln Arts Council.
Donna McMahon will teach home schooled students on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Clint Pendleton will teach three classes on Wednesdays for homeschoolers and public school students.
Leah and Cindy Rogers are teaching classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
The combination of teachers offers instruction six days a week.
“We’ve never had this many classes offered at one time before,” said Howard.
There is a one-time registration fee of $25 for enrollment and supplies. Cost is $50 per month for public school students. Classes are held in the artists studio on the second floor of
the Lincoln Cultural Center, 403 East Main St.
Space is still available in the fall classes.
For more information about classes call the Lincoln Arts Council at 704-732-9044.
Additional workshops for children adults will be held in the fall and spring, taught by Mimi Bethancourt and Anne Godfrey.
