Lincoln 4-Her attends Electric Congress

Published August 15, 2003

Derreck Sherrill, 15, of Vale was recognized as the County Electric Project Record winner, during the 56th Annual State 4-H Electric Congress held July 14-16 at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

He is the son of Todd and Janet Sherrill.

Derreck was among 150 4-Hers and volunteers from across North Carolina selected to attend the three-day event for their achievement in the 4-H Electric Project.

Duke Power Company provided the trip and helped sponsor the congress. Congress activities included an Electric Skill-A-Thon and creating a siren circuit board electric project. Delegates also took a trip to the Carowinds and watched science experiments conducted by NC State University’s Science House.

North Carolina 4-H Electric Congress is sponsored by Duke Power, Progress Energy, Dominion North Carolina Power and the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service at North Carolina State University.

For more information about how to become involved in the 4-H Electric Program, contact the 4-H office at 704-736-8458.
