The Lincoln County Library system encourages reading throughout the year.

When children get out of school, summer reading begins.

Various events are scheduled in Lincolnton, eastern and western Lincoln County.

The following is a schedule of events:

 

West Lincoln Branch Library

Monday, June 23Burns and Company will present Leroy’s Mission: Wolfin’ Down Books! The program will include ventriloquist characters, active audience participation, music, mime and pupetry.

Monday, July 7Fun Tales for All Ages by Ricky Detter. The well-known storyteller, teacher and administrator will entertain with his storytelling skills.

Monday, July 21Discovering with Mr. Music. The program allows children to explore the world of music, drama and dance as they are introduced to musical instruments with hands on experience.

All events are held at 6:30 p.m. at the West Lincoln Branch Library.

 

Charles R. Jonas Library

Thursday, June 19Pete Napier with Aikido Fitness and his advanced students will do demonstrations and talk about bullies.

Thursday, June 26Mark Lippard will show off his juggling and unicycling abilities as well as other skills and talents.

Thursday, July 3Wear red, white and blue for a patriotic karaoke sing-along.

Thursday, July 10The Jeff Robbins Band will play their homemade instruments like a pork-n-beans guitar. Find out what a jaw harp is and learn to do a sit down square dance.

Thursday, July 17Magician Gene Hice will amaze and entertain with his magical show.

Thursday, July 24Park Day will include relays and park fun at Betty Ross Park.

All events, except Park Day, are held at the Citizens Center at 10:30 a.m.

 

East Lincoln Branch Library

Wednesday, June 18Come celebrate the summer. Activities will be announced.

Wednesday, June 25Mountain Marionettes will present the popular “Jazzy Strings.”

Wednesday, July 9Miss Bonae and Miss Pam will present “Magic at Midnight.”

Wednesday, July 16Johnathan Plyer’s Tang Soo Do students will perform demonstrations.

Wednesday, July 25Park Day will include various outdoor activities at the East Lincoln Recreation Center.

All programs, except Park Day, will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Rock Springs School cafeteria.
