From staff reports
Cultural camps are on tap for children this summer.
The Lincoln Arts Council is wrapping up art camp this week. More than 20 children learned several methods of artistic techniques.
“Art Camp offers children a chance to use their imaginations,” says Lincoln Arts Council Executive Director Mary Jane Howard. “There is some structural art and some that allows them to
think on their own.”
The Arts Council’s camp has been running for six summers. Howard says she thinks the children enjoy their learning experience.
Camps still to come at the Cultural Center include Chorus Camp and Drama Camp.
The Lincoln Theatre Guild’s annual Drama Camp will be July 7-11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cultural Center for rising 2nd through 12th graders. Camp director will be Andrea Tripodi.
More than 70 children have already registered for the week-long camp. There are still a few spots left.
Campers learn about acting and auditioning skills, improvisation and make-up. They attend workshops in the morning and rehearse for their big Friday night opening in the afternoons.
Cost for the camp is $75.
