June 7, 2002 - Amy Blanton, a nurse, never planned to bale hay and drive a combine but since 1998 she has been doing
just that. She and husband John have done it so well, that they’ve been named Lincoln County’s Soil and Water Conservation Farm Family of the Year.

Deerbrook Country Club in Shelby. Guests included debutantes from surrounding counties and their dates. Debutantes were Kelsey Barrett, West Lincoln High, daughter of Joy and Freddie Barrett; Lauren Brookins,

June 14, 2002 - The North Carolina Symphony's Eric McLellan (above) performs during Thursday's outdoor concert at Lincolnton's First
Baptist Church, which lasted for about an hour before a storm quickly disbursed the large crowd from their lawn chairs and picnics. At right, Burt and Bernice Rifas shade their eyes from the glare
of the sun before the storm erupted. The concert featured music from Euro-pean and American composers.

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Lincolnton.
The church’s new rector — known also as Mother Jane — took over the pulpit Sunday, June 9.
